Chenille substitute for Rich's Worm

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any suggestions for a substitute for Paton's Bohemian chenille used to tie Rich's Ultimate worm and the Shannon's streamer?post-25820-0-83606100-1517265512_thumb.jpg

As stated by Rich himself ... he'll be back. Until then, Robert, below is his e-mailed reply (sic)

"i will have my puter back tuesday night maybe then i can get backon. robert m asked about patons chenille. patons is still available on ebay in certain colors. most chenille will work for the shannon streamer since its wrapped against itself. problem is they dont work for the tail . patons has 4 core threads , other just two and the fibers will pull out. this past year i have started to use wendy eider chunky yarn for the shannons. makes them much easier to cast. rich mc"

I need to be able to wrap the pattern like Rich MC's worm pattern for the weedless ability. Mono loops and mono V's foul.

I've only had limited success with topwater on the pond.post-25820-0-89917800-1517277824_thumb.jpg

This fly works on occasion but is a bitch to cast.

This is the size of many of the bass in the pond, we have caught at least one 8 lber on each trip with average fish size 2 to 3 lbs.

Kimo has some real nice flies in the January flies from the vise thread that look a lot like that. He said he used a furled dubbing loop I think. Here's a link to one similar. https://youtu.be/TWEq8KuYUd4

Thanks for the endorsement fishinguy!

Take a look at this video. I use Chocklett's Finesse Hackle.

It turns out more like a stick bait which is what I was after.

I have tried the dubbing technique but I got a stiffer worm using Chocklett's Hackle ( chenille)
