samsonboi 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2020 So in view of the many people sitting at home doing nothing, here's something fun to do. This swap is going to be limited to 30 people maximum. It is being simultaneously posted on Fiberglass Flyrodders, the Classic Fly Rod Forum, and the Fly Tying Forum in order to try and fill it. Basically, rules are the same as Bassman/Vicrider's annual Christmas swap, but freshwater flies only. However, if enough people ask I can extend it to saltwater. Paraphrased from the Christmas Swap, the rules are: 1) Twelve flies minimum in an appropriate fly box; more flies are welcome. Basically just fill a fly box with some flies and send it in. Please vary submissions- don't send in a big set of identical flies; instead send in 2 or 3 of each. Same type (soft hackle, dry, winged wet, etc.) is fine. Please keep it to a maximum of three of each pattern. 2) Also, I have a glut of envelopes, because I reuse ones people have sent me. Do send return postage (prepaid shipping labels are the best) but do not enclose a second envelope. 3) Due date is May 10th. I promise to have all submissions shipped out expediently. Due to not wanting my address floating around online, I will send a mass PM with it to all the people from each board. Swapmeister- me- finished 1. The Mad Duck- Bass/Panfish flies- arrived, a box sent out. 2. DarrellP- Arrived, sent out. 3.Mark Knapp- Arrived, sent out 4. Softhackle (from FFR)-Arrived, return package waiting for pickup in my mailbox. 5. Vicrider- Arrived, sent out 6. Dubs- Arrived, return waiting for pickup ... The Mad Duck 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2020 Is this swap limited to trout flies or can Bass/Panfish flies be included?
samsonboi 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2020 Bass and panfish flies are great! After all, you can catch almost anything with a popper or other warmwater fly.
The Mad Duck 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2020 I'm in for a Dozen Panfish/Bass type flies

mikechell 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2020 That's unfortunate. I thought a multi-site gift-box swap seemed like a neat idea. Too bad it's not playing out that way.
samsonboi 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2020 Eh, Vicrider/Bassman already does one, so I think there's not enough interest because of that.

Thats why they stick a lime in a Corona. To add flavor. I aint drinking a beer that requires extra flavor to be added to be drinkable!!
vicrider 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2020 Yeah Samsonboi, I do that around the fall for a Christmas and it usually does well with 25-30 in it the last several years. Doing it with that kind of turnout is a lot more work than you would think it is. I always try to balance boxes by amount of flies and quality of boxes so everyone feels like they did well in the swap. At Christmas I buy paper and wrap the boxes except two years ago I bought Christmas envelopes but thought the wrapped boxes were nicer. Hope it works for you but if you did get a big turnout expect more time invested than a normal swap.
samsonboi 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2020 I did realize that, but I don't have much to do anyway At least I can get out and fish.
