    grass carp flies??

three peices of unchaped egg yarn works pretty good, than i like to spin a little bit of green marabou, not too much though.
  4. oh yea, black and yellow work pretty good in our lakes
  5. yea, nice fly, i bet it would catch a nice fish, and also, i agree with bruce, i think it would do better on the salmon steelhead forum
  6. i saw how you said that you got a book called "the art of flytying". That is pretty cool, that is the book i taught myself with. I also chuckled at how you were talking about spendy material... If you think head cement is spendy, just wait till you get interested into atlantics, and a fly calls for indian crow, or bustard. Happy tying :headbang: JZ
  7. personally, i don't tie a grifithes gnat bigger than a 18, but a pretty nice tie. JZ

I don't know of any subsitutes, what proboloms are you having with it?
  13. Hi flygirl, I have been flyfishing just about as long as you, and tying a little bit longer, and yes, it is very expensive. It is really expensive to me, because i have just gotten into the world of classics. A while ago, people owed me money, and as soon as i pought my first macaw, it was the other way around. I guess that it is worth it, because flyfishing and tying is something that you could do for the rest of your life. JZ
  14. Also, this fly has nice results in black and yellow. For salmon a good combo is pink&pink, Pink&black, and pink& white. Happy tying, JZ
  15. when i go for big fish, i use this fly. It has caught pike, trout, and even peacock bass(i wish i caught a peacock bass ) when people ask me what it is for, i say... well big fish, and they are like what kind of big ones, and i am like, the really big ones :headbang: . I didn't create this pattern, and i don't know who did. all i can say is thank you for inventing this fly .Anyway. here it is: 1. here is an articulation think that i made:(it shows the steps of how to make the articulated) http://s177.photobucket.com/albums/w214/J_...=1178662911.pbw 2. tie on the dumbells http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w214/J_.../Myflies008.jpg 3. tie on some flash http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w214/J_.../Myflies009.jpg 4. tie on a white bunny strip on top http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w214/J_.../Myflies010.jpg 5. tie on olive bunny strip http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w214/J_.../Myflies011.jpg 6. tie on cross cut bunny http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w214/J_.../Myflies012.jpg 7. make an olive bunny dubbing, wrap it around the dumbell eyes, make a nice head, and tie off. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w214/J_.../Myflies015.jpg 8. hit the water http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w214/J_...la4-3-07158.jpg

  19. Hi, I am luke Jones. I am a 14 year old that has been in this "lifestyle" for 8 months. I have tied flies in every category from midges to deer hair poppers, from a simple adams, to an artistic hairwing. I am even starting to tie classics. I have had a some of my patterns recognized by local guides, and some of them ask me to tie for them. My favorite type of flie is an articulated fly, especially if it involves bunny strips. Mostly I learned by books, until 6 months into the "lifestyle" i learned that leroy from the TV show was having a class. I went to the class and learned a ton. I am also a relitive of Sylvestor Nemes. I am going fishing with him this summer(i should open my fly box, which i will have sneeked a bunch of rapalas into, and ask him what fly I should use  ) If there is anything else you would like to know about me, then shoot away. Vicky eagle elk is just about the only person on this site that i have met that i know of though. JZ
