  1. I like the concept of it but in my opinion its just more bells and whistles that will bog the computer down.
  2. I have never used silk thread before and i have seen quite a few patterns in the database that calls for it. I mainly use ultra thread or uni and i was wondering what are the pro's and con's for using silk over something else?
  3. back when i first started getting in to fly fishing i thought about using a treble. when i used to spin fish for trout we would always use corn on a treble and thought about tying something up like that but i found it was more of a hassle than it was worth. i can see tying a skirt on to dress up a spinner or something along those lines but i personally havnt experimented too much with them. However im sure there are quite a few purists around who would agree with the "waterboy's" mom in saying that "treble hooks are the devil" :hyst:
  4. a couple of good lookin flies there
  5. a check is fine just dont forget to sign it lol. Yeah and the "real fresh ones" are a blast to catch. as soon as you set that hook its like the green light just lit up at the drag strip, there is water, fish and fisherman flying all over the place lol.
  6. Ive had pretty good luck with EP. It has pretty good movement in the water and they have a bunch of good colors to pick from. I generally mix Ep with a little bucktail and flashabou on my clousers.
  7. I know that we call steelhead that have just entered the streams chrome or chromers.
  8. Interesting pattern and i like the 2 tone color of the body, Looks like im gonna have to learn how to crochete :wallbash:. Lol i guess should of paid closer attention to my grandma back in the day.
  9. Flies look good and so does the rack. Well done :headbang:
  10. I bought a traditionals 2 in 8 wt for steelhead. It is a good rod and should treat you well. My only complaint about that rod is the reel seat was a bit on the small side and i had trouble getting my reel on it. Other than that it has worked well. Hope you enjoy yours. Tight lines
  11. cant see why that wouldnt catch fish
  12. I looked at that when i upgraded my kit a while ago and decided to go with the tackle binder in cabelas tackle bag section. it was about $20 cheaper and was pretty much the same thing. I actually bought 2 of them and put all the single pocket sleeves in one binder for my plastics on my boat tackle bag and all the 2 pocket sleeves in the other binder for my fly tying kit. It works great for all my cards of and little bags of materials. Also its not the cheapest way to go but i went with cabelas large soft tackle bag for my travle kit. It holds 8x 3700 series plano boxes and i bought planos deep utility box in 3700 series and i can fit 4 of them in the bag along with the binder i previously mentioned. I had about $100 in the bag and boxes but it holds so much and is really organized. I know that tackle bags have been mentioned before and you can go smaller for alot cheaper but i have a hard time leaving materials behind when i go to camp for trout or steelhead fishing so i opted to pick up a larger version.
  13. like previously said i believe it has alot to do with time of year, what stream your fishing, the flow and color of the stream, what hatches are going on........... To say that you have to use such and such lure to catch the big ones every time is kind of crazy.
  14. Skin that one pilgram and ill go fetch ya another
  15. I had 3 of the cheap stainless bobbins (dont know who made them but i got them from cabelas) but recently picked up a couple dr slick ceramic bobbins. They seem to be working pretty good.
  16. gotta love care packages and ill second that on wanting to go fishing. we finally had a couple nice warm days in a row and the ice on the streams is starting to melt. only problem is so is all the snow and its running down and flooding the streams. But as long as we dont get any rain in the next couple days i should be getting line wet by next weekend. :headbang:
  17. Both the flies and pictures look good.
