  1. perhaps slightly more copper colour than without the tube? you might get bettere effect fromt the tube if you wind it over silver. very nice fiy none the less
  2. nice tubes, i really like tubes try hittin the front end with a lighter to curl back the front and take away anr potentiallt sharp or catchy edges. you should also try the mikaell froedin turbo cones, they really make em wiggle
  3. not sure if this is accurate but i read tiger trout were sterile hybrids? it was an article years ago about why they were being allowed to be introduced to UK rivers. we really dont like introducing aliens anymore not after the mink and squirrels we got from accross the pond, which is why there's no bass in the uk but the rest of europe is full of them
  4. Hi, just wondering if anyone has been to mongolia for taiman? I'm thinking about going and would appreciate any input anyone has about the guiding companies etc. thanks marty
  5. very nice mayfly, i like the two tone wing
  6. i dont have a luster pattern, but when they're on the curse i like to put on a sparkler booby and rip it back through them on an intermediate. It works.
  7. missed salmonid, i put huechen. I'm not sure the English name, but they live in eastern europe and are basically a tamien but easier to get to as you dont need to spen weeks crossing mongolia to fish for them otherewise brownies
  8. www.lureparts.nl www.lurebuilding.nl both of these have english and give a european flavour to some stuff marty
  9. [totally with you on that, my top chrominid pattern is simply a layer of thread down the hook and a turn or three of peacock at the thorax. deadly too.
  10. add ssmall proportion (under 10 percent) of the uv blue/ uv pearl litebrite or wingsnflash or whatever you want to call it to the blend it's a deadly addittion, i usually add it to my squirrel blends for nymphs and scuds/bugs/hoglouse patterns. marty
  11. thanks guys, i've heard some good things about the battenikil LA, and the spools arent too dear either. it'd be bcheaper to buy it then spools fopr my waterworks. i've never tried a casette style reel, are they ok? i've got a lack of confidence in the system to be honest, is it unfounded? marty
  12. hi guys recently got access to a boat and some inshore flyfishing as a result- thing is i'm going to need some sinking lines for the 10wt, but i dont want to be shelling out a couple of hundred bucks for a spare spool (ideally i'd like 3). mostly i'll be after seabass (they dont usually get as big as stripers) but may need the good drag for some baby tuna or yellowtail. I had a look at the loop multi reels but cant find any reviews on them, so open to any recommednations thanks in advance marty
  13. looks a great day, lovely fish. what kind of reel is that?
  14. I'd jaut go for your name, i used to tie professonally and just ran under my name. my biggest problem with tying is that the majority of the people in the UK are unwilling to pay the extra for superior flies and would rather by the crap that's tied in africa with poor materials. Also, how many flies do you average an hour? for it to be worth my while i had to be able to knock out 10-15 standard trout flies an hour at least- obviously some patterns take longer, but you adjust the price oh yeah and expect yourmaterial collection to expand rapidly, people will definitely be asking you to tie stuff you dont have the gear for. go for it and good luck
  15. everything s cathcaleonte long rod, you just need the right one , he hopes, i'll takesomconvntional gear too buti've read loads of arcle aboutgetting them on 12 and even 11 weights. just need to be sure to hava plenty of backup tackle with me. the more i read about them the more i want to catch one i've already started tying for it.
  16. hi guys i'm just about to (tentatively) start plannin a trip to fiji for next year to chase some gian trevally. I'm looking for any tips on flies, tackle etc you might have to supplement my own research- which at the moment seems to be producing one result: go big powerful and noisy anyway If anyonw has any experience i'd really appreciate the input thanks marty
  17. i always greas all but the last 12inches of leader to the fly, which get's mucked to sink. i'd probably go with the wing lenth being most probably if it's the lies, unless theyre standong proud, ie on the hackle and tail as opposed to being on their side- if that's the case it's probably over hackled and over tailed. hope this helps. marty
  18. yeah i use the plano compartment boxes that are for plugs/hardbaits. really like the look of thes plano foam lined jobs though
