  1. Flies arrived. Thanks guys. Like them. CM where did you find the recipe for the fly you tied. I'd like to see it.
  2. Good luck! Wisconsin is a pretty state and every time I have been there the people have been very gracious and nice. Also, they have great beers!🍻
  3. Dave How did you like the ahrex hooks I put on the backwaters shrimp? First time I've used those hooks but I liked them. Hope you catch ol biggun!
  4. Bad swapmeister! I blame it on the bourbon! Sorry guys! Must've swapped piles. Next time I do a swap I'll make it up to you. Dave next time I'm a swapmeister return postage is on me for your flies. You pay more than enough just getting them to me.
  5. Adam Check out Jeff Currier's blog. Www.jeffcurrier.com. Travelled to Africa fishing a lot and has nice photos. He is a wealth of knowledge. Check out his trips to The Seychelles which are amazing. I believe you'll find something you like Sudan, etc. Lots of saltwater stuff to interest you!
  6. They roll on the hook. If you put some superfine dubbing down first it helps. I use beadhead ones like carpflyguy. I dub over the worm as well as the material cuts easily.
  7. Capt Bob I'm very interested in your set up from start to finish. Reel all the way to the fly and the knots used. I use a double uni knot on flouro to braid on spinning gear. Can I use that on my fly rod, backing to line, etc. Due to serious back injuries it's tough for me to flyfish all day long at the front of the boat although I still do it. I am liking the comfort of the bay boat. I'm contemplating on getting serious on shark fishing on the fly. I am in Key Largo and Islamorada a lot. And thank you for all your kindly advice, it is appreciated!
  8. I like the lights. What kind of beer is that on the desk?
  9. Salty I have posted one pic ever and it was a major pain. It was 3 or 4 years ago in the fishing section of a monster permit that I caught in KW. I haven't posted anything else and probably won't. Joe Check your messages I sent you a pm.
  10. Col Mel Are the foam pieces joined by fly line? I couldn't tell. FRN mr wiggler is a panfish Charlie variant that I came up with if you can call it that anyway it fishes well.
  11. Col Mel I looked up the fly you are tying. It looks very interesting. What is the tail material? Btw, the extra I sent you with rubber legs pointed up by the beadchain (I call mr wiggler) is excellent when the shellcracker and bream are bedding. I'm most interested in the fly you have chosen and the predator. Hope you enjoyed the beautiful weekend we just had. I flyfished the Cumberland River yesterday about 6 miles down from Wolfcreek dam but failed to catch any. Didn't really care though it was so nice and the boat ran well which is always a plus after it's set a couple of months.
  12. Check out world cast anglers. Also check out www.jeffcurrier.com. Early for hoppers I think of them later in the summer.
  13. My favorite fly is similar to mikechells for bream. I use squirrel for tail and wing. I also have some flash out the back but what I like best is I use four rubber legs that spread out like a weed guard. Call it mr wiggler.
  14. Squirrel clousers work great. Took them to one of my ponds and caught several this afternoon.
  15. Bamboo is at Anglers House Marina. Capt Matt does the Keys fishing report on the radio at noon. If you can get away from the kids for an hour or two take your wife to the Cheeca lodge for cocktails. Lazy Days in Islamorada is an off the hook restaraunt with a beautiful view. They do hook n cook or they have their own fish if it is a day they don't bite. I wholly recommend the catch of the day jalapeño encrusted super lazy style. Unbelievable! Fla Keys Brewery is a small microbrewery in Islamorada. It's in the art area. Good beer. Pelican poop is a stout with oysters in it which sounds gross but isn't! Have fun!
  16. Neat swap idea. I'm not in but am interested in whether there are any fly patterns originating from my home state of Kentucky. I don't know of any. If anyone knows of any please let me know.
  17. Steve You've got room for a mermaid in that tank
  18. I don't know why it's called but wrapping thread around the tail about a 1/8 tp1/4 inch or what flytire showed.
  19. Anne's beach has no fishing signs posted all over which really bites. I would recommend taking the family out for some fishing and snorkeling with the folks at bamboo charters. It's a blast. I go down there several times a year and I've been with them a lot. I caught a 10lb tripletail last with them last month which is the best dinner guest I've ever had.
  20. Cheech Is the new version better? Btw, my buddy's son, 9, caught a 5lb bass on the LFM that I had tied for his dad. The funny thing is the kid was fishing it with a Zebco and pulling it behind a bobber. Children's ingenuity too bad we lose it all too often. Thanks for sharing all your great patterns.
  21. Attempt my ass! Super cool! Nailed it!
