    Tenn Clave

Sounds like fun, just at the wrong end of the state for me.
  2. No need to apologize. I'm just glad they made it. I hope you catch a biggun' on one of the extras and I hope everyone catches a biggun' on one of my flys. If you do please let me know. I haven't had cause to pee on the floor from excitement in a long time :hyst:
  3. Did my flys make it yet, Seadog? They were supposed to be there on Wednesday :dunno:
  4. Glad to hear you're ok Fred. I hope Bud is well, too. We've been thinking about and praying for you guys around here. Take care, Terry
  5. I use both, too. I was surprised that "both", in some form, was not a choice. I generally prefer the look of hair over the foam, but the foam is, generally, much easier to use. They both fish differently, too, and I have found that there are situations in which one is better than the other. I also like to use them both together, but perhaps we can talk about that some other time
  6. Yeah, I looked at the tying materials on his site and he says that the suspension felt that he sells is used on this fly. Upon closer investigation, it looks like the head could be felt or something like it. It looks like he's using dumbell eyes (because of the way the fly moves in the water) then covering them somehow, perhaps with a foam underbody, then ending up with felt on top. I guess you could stack the felt somehow, but I've never tried it. I've got some felt, so it looks like I have another experiment to add to the list :headbang:
  7. Anyone know what that head is made out of?
  8. I googled it and it looks like Chris Helm's shop carries it. Here's a link to his website. Give him a call. He's always been good to me when I've called. Chris Helm's Shop If he has it, he'll set you up.
  9. That sounds like a lot of fun, particularly if you're going to be at Toledo Bend. I can't make it down there but I hope you guys have a blast!!
  10. I like the looks of that one. Pretty cool :headbang:
  11. Google "stealth bomber fly" and follow the directions. It's a killer fly that I use in muck and slime with great results.
  12. I don't have much experience with a lot of vises but I have tied everything from a 20 to a 3/0 on my Peak using the standard jaws with no problem. I have the saltwater jaws, I just haven't used them yet.
  13. I'll go with a foam spider, usually black body with chartreuse legs, most of the time when all else fails. I also like a Clouser minnow for this situation, too.
  14. If you're not full, I'm in. I like big flys :flex:
  15. I used to have a Cabela's Master vise but I have since gotten a Peak. I really like it. That whole rotary thing is way cool
  16. The box has left Memphis and is on the way to Maine. I hope it finds cooler weather there. Take care, Terry
  17. Hey guys, I've got it and will mail it tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest. Terry
  18. :headbang:  :yahoo: :headbang: (There wasn't a smily face for speechless, so these will have to do)
  19. Woo Hoo!! I'll be looking for it. Of course, I have to be out of town this weekend so take your time Faster Fish. I'll have my house sitter looking for it, though, so it will be safe. :headbang: I'll be back mid-week next week and it will be a quick turn around for me, too. Take care, TL

    Fad Flies

Maybe trying something new to you can be your own revolution of sorts. :dunno: Or, even better, perhaps you can find something new and start a revolution.
  21. For what it's worth, if I was a fish, I'd hit it. Looks good to me.
  22. Padded envelopes are the norm since I can get a two pack at the dollar store for a buck. Sometimes I'll send them out in the USPS priority mail envelope or box, but usually with a padded envelope for return.
  23. I like to use a cheap fly box I got from Bass Pro Shop. That way, when I get the flys back they're ready to hit the water straight out of the mailbox.
  24. I use my swap flys to fish with quite often. I take the time I need to learn how to tie them, which USUALLY doesn't involve dissection , and then add water.
