  1. Ahh thats in my neck of the woods! another cool thing about this lake is you dont need a nevada fishing license because its on a reservation, you just pay a daily permit fee.. and big midges are money ive had friends do real good on a sz. 8 mahalo midge in red this year!
  2. Wow kimo i really like those nymphs! are you just using wire rapped mono off the end? is there any glue used? ok first up are some jig head buggers tied on a sz. 8, the barred olive ones have sili legs on em which i think is a great addition, i used em on stocked rainbows at my local lake yesterday, and they couldnt keep away from em. i ended up giving a few away to these two kids with spinning rods that wernt catching, i always get a real kick out of other people catching fish on my flies.. the second one is a bass streamer that im very pleased with
  3. Thats an interesting one piker, i could also see that useful for trout in shallower still water!
  4. So i also have some full pecock swords, anyone know any good uses for the eyes on trout or bass flys?
  5. Nice pics bow mike, i really dig that .22! looks like your a helluva shot with it.. ok, this is probably a stupid one but what about marabou? im guessing it comes off a chicken?!
  6. That takes the cake! best set up ive seen thus far.. love the oak!
  7. Hah! thats cold riff.. sounds like she got what she deserved though! bieng a repoman sounds like fun, you accepting applications!?
  8. Ya i'd like that, i really only tie with one other person.. i could always use some fresh ideas.. ill send you a pm
  9. Yeh the work great as the back on a hopper, i got some free wild turkey feathers from a friend this summer. they really add something to my basic foam hopper!
  10. Ya man no joke, i usually catch a dozen or so each season over 16. i love the furiosity of br"ookies
  11. First ones an intruder tied with summer largemouth fishing in mind.. second is a foam hopper pattern that i use on my beloved brook trout, i can never have enough hoppers!
  12. Right on guys if you make it to truckee area let me know, i got some killer little creeks around here one of which holds 20+ inch brooks.. the best hopper fishing youll ever have!
  13. Hey anyone live around tahoe? im in soda springs in north lake..
  14. Yeh i was gunna say a rockworm pattern.. nice catch!
  15. Yeh, i would love to use to on my sculpin patterns!! over here, over here! ;-)
  16. Yeh stefans a great local tier from truckee, his pattern "the brick" is a killer golden stone imitation for the deep holes on the truckee river. and i actually didnt hear about andys loss, but i wish him the best, he has been by far the single biggest insperation for me when it comes to tying
  17. Nice tie i really dig how you did the pectorial fins. and that red bead chain with the natural olive tones, well done!
  18. Im not sure so much for moving water but i can tell you that on a lake with no wind you can run most any prevelent nymphs in the lake under an indicator using a jig head so it has a horizontal presentation. Strip it VERY slowly, like once every 20 or 30 seconds, ive had some good sucess with this on stampede resivoir fishing smallies. mostly using hares ears, birds nests, prince nymphs. ect. all tied on jig heads.
  19. Ahh thats too bad mike, belive me though theres good fishing in california, amador is supposed to be really good trout fishing in the summer. im in the lake tahoe area and while alot is frozen/impossible to fish, im still catching the occasional rainbow and mackinaw out of the local lake. Im sure bass fishing is hard in december dont right it off as a bad fishing destionation! california has the largest wild trout population next to alaska, you should of droped that 6 wt. for a 3 wt. and hit some local streams
  20. I have rio aqualux intermediate in a 5 wt. and i use it quite often when bringing big bass flys through some heavy cover. it works quite well for medium length casts anything beyond that i dont recomend it. I do find it very durable and you should have no problem with pike or muskie. I find it best used in a float tube in still water but I have used it in moiving water with limited sucess. I havent had to ever worry about cleaning my line and ive had it for about 3 years with light use, it does kind of have a almost gummy texture to it though so it doesnt go through guides very well. I personally dont use tapered leaders with it because presentation isnt a huge issue with most sinking line styles of fishing. hope that helps. -Miles
  21. I live in north Lake Tahoe in California, two very inspiring tiers for me where Andy Burk andyburk.com and Ralph and Lisa Cutter flyline.com
  22. First ones a take on the classic flesh fly.. the next two where inspired by planet trouts rad nymphs one is a sz. 16 and the others a sz. 12.. oh and the flesh flys tied one a sz. 2 mustad bass bug hook.
  23. Ive heard that this fly was originally tied as a snail imitation which might explain why it works well submerged, but it makes a great dry as well. the brookie in my avatar was actually caught on a renegade off the top real early season in my local meadow. this fly has memories for me.
  24. Olive articulated streamer using alot of marabou
