  1. That's a shame to hear, unfortunately it's all to common these days. You asked the question if I would say something to a buddy of mine if they used illegal bait and I most certainly would. I fly fish for the peace and the fun of it, there is nothing more rewarding than using trial and error and experience to trick the fish into taking your artificial fly or lure (for the spin fishers). I suspect these people will eventually get caught and lose their fishing and guiding privileges eventually and you know what? They will be out there doing it again. Some folks just don't care, but the fact that you and many others do is the best we can ask for in this day and age. We can do our best to educate our young sons/daughters nieces and nephews and grand kids and hope they will grow up with the respect we have for the outdoors and maybe eventually it will start to make a difference.
  2. When I die can my urn fit in there somewhere? Looks great Steve, really like the roll top desk and the reel display cabinet. Defiantly a man cave to be proud of
  3. I would like to offer a challenge to you, I think you should take a fly box of only your "regect" flies and not one single fly that you find perfect, just once, try to prove your mind wrong and I believe you will do quite well. If you do catch fish it may just change your outlook on your flies. Just a suggestion.
  4. I've got a gigbob, it's perfect for floating down the river, no frame so it packs up quite small. The top part comes off for just a float tube or the whole unit for floating down the river. It's VERY solid and has a flat bottom for shallow water. I bought it directly from NRS and they shipped to me in Alberta no problem.
  5. A lot of these types of furniture were also used as safes for the wealthy, since the furniture was so heavy it makes perfect sense to me as to the hidden compartments. Really cool desk I have to say
  6. I use a smith creek net holster, I love it. Here's a link so you can see what it looks like and how it's used. http://www.smithcreek.co/net-holster.php
  7. Beautiful rod as usual Steve, what a kind gesture, I'm sure he will be extremely pleased
  8. Some good advice! Thanks everyone! Like the wedding planning, I told her I'm going to show up and shut up, just tell me what time to be there
  9. I see I have a lot to learn, I must learn this KNOW word you speak of lol
  10. So my fiancé surprised me with a pretty cool gift to wear at our wedding next May, thought I'd share. She ordered them from the UK. I think ill keep her! Fly cuff links
  11. Right on!! That's what it's all about. Congrats
  12. Wow, you sure know how to make one hell of a man cave Steve, looks like a great place for work and play.
  13. Really nice fish, love their fall spawning colors
  14. I usually fish a size 14 as well, I don't go much smaller than a 16 for the most part
  15. Good for you Steve, I'm still a smoker which I hope to kick one day, one bad habit at a time for me for now
  16. Great pictures, really enjoyed them. Some really nice fish. Brits may make good fishing partners but they are also fantastic for rounding up fly tying material!! Gorgeous dog. I have to ask, is your friends name actually Pete Sakes?
  17. I thank you very much for your persistence , and for sharing with all of us. Much appreciated
  18. I find it saves a lot of time using barbless, saves from having to pinch the barb every time you tie a fly. Maybe I'm wrong but I tend to believe the less squeezing and pinching a hook with pliers the better, In some cases weakening the hook.
  19. I guess if you wanted to take your boat and pull a tent trailer it would be a great way to do that
  20. I would suggest buying a k-pump, they are unbelievable , very fast and light weight and the pump pumps just as easy as the raft gets full as it is when you first start out. I pump up my pontoon with it and take it with me in case I need to top off later in the trip. It's the only pump you will ever need for your pontoon.
  21. Thats great info, I'll be checking all of that out about preserving them for sure. Thanks
