  1. Sorry last week was a **tch and this week seem to be that same....Still at work
  2. I had the opportunity to meet and talk with Kelly Galloup at the Texas Fly Fishing Expo a few week-ends ago. He is a cool dude as well as a down to earth fellow! Anyway during one of his presentations he stated that during the next 20 years will be an exciting time for fly tying. In his opinion it will be the best time period for fly tying because of all of the new materials that are becoming available. Also he thinks the internet will only promote fly tying more and more to the younger generations. With that said he thinks that we will see more different technics being used because the younger generation has a tendency to think outside the box so to speak. Synthetic materials will begin to play a huge part in fly tying so hopefully this will become a great time period for the hobby! Makes me wonder what is in stored for us in the future...
  3. Everyone, I guess I am the last one holding up this swap. I apologize as last week was a booger at work and I was never able to make it to the Post Office before it closed. I finally got them in the mail today!!! I was told they should reach South Carolina by Wednesday. Once again I am sorry for delaying the swap. I hope everyone has a wonderful week.
  4. I think I read one on your threads in the past or maybe I saw it somewhere else on the internet but this is what I have used in the past and it work pretty good. You can cut it to whatever length you need and then you can take a pretty thick bodkin needle pick it out and unwind it. I use a metal lice comb to straighten it out I bet you could even use a pet comb for that purpose as well. This craft yard can be purchased in different colors at Hobby Lobby. There is a white color so you could use markers to color how ever you wish.
  5. retrocarp, Does that glue foam up like the regular Gorilla glue does? I've used regular Gorilla glue for wood projects and it foams up after it finishes drying.
  6. That's a cool fly!!!! I will most definitely will have to give this one a try for sure. Great SBS...
  7. Kimo, Thanks for the head up on this! Now maybe I can do better with my picture presentations.
  8. I will chime in on this and give my two cents of course that is probably all that my opinion is worth. Personally I do not care for using CA glue to attach my eyes for the simple fact once you place the eyes on most of the time you cannot make any adjustments if you are off. Plus if you happen to get any CA glue on the face of the eyes it will make them cloudy. I have found that you can put some Sally Hansen over them and that will take away the cloudiness. I prefer to use Liquid Fusion for my eyes. Yes it is not fast drying and you have to watch the eyes some to make sure they do not droop but I just place my flies on a rotary wheel and let them dry. If I am tying a streamer or some sort of deer hair type fly I will coat the head as well with Liquid Fusion. It is sort of has as rubbery type texture which I think does really well.
  9. I wonder if one cold use Liquid Fusion glue instead of the Solarez UV?
  10. Same here please...Need an address
  11. caloosa bug, I was wondering if you mind commenting further on the Chinese Dragon? How did it float in the water? How did the the foam glitter strip do? Did the glitter stay on okay after being in the water for awhile for did it begin to flake off? Any further insights you could shared with with me would be greatly appreciated!!!
  12. Striperknight, Just curious on where you got this plastic box from?
  13. Just wondering if anyone else is going??? Suppose to be some great tiers at this one...September 8 -10, 2016 http://txflyfishexpo.com/
  14. Well since I started this post I figure I would make a few comments. This will be my first show that I am actually tying in so I am some what excite but I am also nervous as well. My very first show that I when to was the Texas Fly Fishing Expo in New Braunfels, Texas back in June of 2014 which I took my son and we had a great time, It is amazing hen you have a kid with you fly tiers are really eager to show them things. Anyway since that very first show I was really impressed how friendly fly tiers are and they really do not mind taking their time on showing you how to tie stuff. Every since that show I have been to several other shows and I thought that the Mountain Home Conclave that is coming up this October would be a great opportunity to dive off into. As many of you know I am by no means a professional at the is hobby I just do it for fun and to have something to do. Thank you to all who that have given me pointers I greatly appreciate it!!! Have a great Labor Day...
