Excellent! I like you pinched hook barb. Beautiful tie.

Thank you. Crushing the barb is the first thing I do when I get my hooks out to tie.

Most of my bluegill bugs are tied on light wire barbless. The eyes are too a little to small but the ease to remove even a swallowed fly is so worth the  it and i have found a place to buy them in bulk so not nearly as expensive as buying repackaged from the middleman .I do not mask barbs on certain flies for certain fish as i lose to many and  a pliers easily removes the hooks.

We at British Columbia Canada have a strict rules implemented by fisheries to use single, barbless fly and many of us follow that religiously. I usually do not even look closely, or comment on barbed hook flies, or watch youtube fly tying videos done on barbed hooks. I just skip them.

But that is my personal decision.

I am not here to judge others or tell others what to do. I am here to contribute to this Forum and learn. I appreciate other members contributions greatly. Flies I look at here, are very good.

i dont pinch the barbs on the flies i post here

i'm not here to judge whether a tyer pinches the barb or doesnt pinch the barb. that is their own personal choice

we too have pinch the barb rules in the lower 48 although not everywhere

i will pinch the barb at streamside. makes it easier to remove from your skin 😀

i'll keep an eye on this thread. dont want to see it go into a pissing match

I'm on it too Norm. Much easier to remove from yourself. Unfortunately that happens way too often. A good tie is a good tie no matter if it's barbed or barbless

barb vs no barb debates can go off the deep end real fast

barbless hooks do come out easy. i know first hand, multiple times 😀
