Have not tied with it yet, but your flies confirm my first impressions. The longer fibers have a bit of sheen and independence to them, the wooly stuff is short and soft, making a nice dubbing. 

I like what you did with that Spruce. 

The wooly stuff dubs like seal or angora goat although there is some underfur mixed in that I haven't been able to tease out yet.

I wasn't sure what version you wanted after searching most of Dr. Henshall work he was a bass fisher and noted author on bass fly fishing of his time, often described as the apostle of black bass. I also like and favor the Bergman version and flytire's is an exceptional example I just thought the bass version was the original.

Dalmation Trude Variant

This comes from Savage Flies. It was created by a father-daughter duo here in Missouri. I have made a few changes to the pattern - Matt O'Neal also made some changes so it is a variant of a variant.

Hook: # 10 Nymph

Thread: Black 14/0 Veevus

Tail: Lady Amherst Pheasant Tippets

Body: Black Peacock/Natural White Peacock/Black Peacock

Wing: White Calf Tail

Hackle: Grizzly

Thief variations  used dubbing instead of chenille.

red yarn tail, silver flash body, squirell hair underwing, turkey tail segment folded over for over wing,  dubbing head.  size 10 hook
