The Goat 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2007 Since winter's coming and I'm trying to get my midge box full, I was hoping some of you would share some of your favorite midges. Dry, emerger, pupa, whatever works for you. I've got WAY too much open space in this box!! Haha.

ILikeFish 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2007 I like the pupa with red body, silver ribbing, hares ear or hurl for thorax, and white foam for gills
utyer 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2007 Brassies in copper, orange, and dk blue-green. All with just a hint of peacock herl. I also tie up some very sparce orange, red green and black thread and fur midges. I make these as thin as I can and just a hint of a thorax. For emergers, I use Serendipities, and cdc midge patters. For drys, I tie GGs and a cluster midge with is nothing more than a GG on a long shank hook. I also tie GG with black and gray dubbed bodies.

KevCompton 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2007 Striptease Midge Pupa Also in black, olive, wine/maroon, etc. The foam helps keep the pattern up in the surface film. I use the Partridge Oliver Edwards nymph/emerger hook which is silver plated. A dyed red/orange peacock herl thorax is ideal. I've also used orange/red floss and Flexi-Floss. Moscow 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2007 Hi, I like Gary LaFontaine's Halo Mayfly Emerger, Lash's Raccoon and the Lady McConnell for stillwaters. On stream, I have to say the Griffith's Gnat, Renegade or it's evil twin brother, the Bear Paw http://www.virtualflybox.com/patterns/patt...d=23&id=186 http://www.westcoastflyfishers.com/fly_pat..._mcconnell.html Lash's Raccoon and the Lady McConnell: see Phil Rowley's book, Fly Patterns for Still Waters Bear Paw: http://kwsu.publictelevision.org/stations/...id=12&pid=2 Moscow
