First attempt at a King Cobra

Recommended Posts

Hi every one A little while ago I said that I would try to make a snake the snake that was decided was a King Cobra!!

So here is my First attempt. This fly is made out of Deer hair from tall to head 19 hook plus a double hook for the fangs

and After 7 hours and 1 1/2' by 3' of deer body.

Any thought and comments would be greatly appreciated.

That's pretty cool!

But, before I say "nice fly" I need to see it fly. So, get out the video camera and let's see how well it casts!

Thanks Guys here are some of the info about the snake:

The length is 21" long

It has 19 size 1 streamer hooks for the body

fangs are size 1 double hook tied with whit above the Barbe's and the integrated in with the mouth.

The mouth opens and closes with black on top and bottom. the tongue is a shaped piece of 2mm foam.

the body has of black deer body at 3" by 12" sheet, the natural has of a sheet at 12" by 24".

there is 36" of 40 pound mono to connect the hooks together.

the head tapers from one hook, to two hooks, to three hook the three hooks go for three sets,

then the jaw is one hook and three hooks more for the head.

eyes are 3-d gold eyes

put all this together and add 4 hours to Ty and 3 hours to trim and you have a King Cobra the original!!

Next I will work on something for the creative section of the ftfc. :P

I made this fly just to see if I could do some thing extra ordinary with deer hair!

I Really hope that this fly will help me expand my deer hair tying even more.

How knows maybe I will send something even more extraordinary in the creative section of the forums contest

Thanks tyrite (Glen Dayton)
