June 2013 flies from the vice

Maybe a bit early but we might as well kick it off ;) I've been obsessed with bass/pike the last few days, but have been getting back into the trout stuff too :)

Some wee doubles now the summer seems to be arriving, heads a bit big but trying to knock them out ready for fishing.

Ive always had a hard time tying hoppers and really admire those who can whith ease, so I decided that I would finally sit down til I tied a decent opper, and here it is.

Enjoy!

what is the purpose of using a double hook?

Well it allows a smaller hook that is heavy to sink down without using additional weight or a heavy wire hook. They ride quite nicely in the flow and they are traditional, I like the look of them over singles. The barbs will be flattened before fishing and they don't seem any more difficult to remove than singles.
