bowmike 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2017 Did these up last night. I have a few things to work on in the future. I think I will add a mono weed guard, need to research how to do one. I also think I may either go 2 hooks, or do the head section with the hook. Not a hard tie, and think it should do well. I will be picking up some smaller shanks to do these in some smaller sizes as well.
Flat Rock native 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2017 Very nice. Can see these in about a million color options. FireTiger is first for me. Be sure to report back, with photos preferably, after "polling" the fish. Carry On.....

bowmike 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2017 yessir, I was thinking that this is a decently easy pattern to tie, and can do a lot of variations. I may try a fly men popper head reversed tied. may help it dive a little. But I am also cheap. LOL
vicente 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2017 why not just make a diver shaped foam head.
Philly 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2017 Nice. I never really used the soft plastic lizards, but something like that might be an ace in the hole when I go fishing with my buddies who all fish on the dark side. If you have some of the regular foam popper heads you could use metal paper holders to flatten them. You won't get that crease in the middle like the Fly men popper but the mouth of the popper will be oval and the popper head will be flattened or you could use the foam you're using make the head a little longer, maybe a bit wider then use an emory board to angle the front to make it dive. Fisherboy0301 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2017 Is that little foam head enough to float all that body plus the rabbit tail? Sweet pattern!

carpflyguy 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2017 I would imagine the back sags down in the water with the head floating high? That's actually how I prefer my topwater to look, something about the tail slowly hanging down after a twitch seems to really trigger strikes. Nice pattern, I'm gonna have to tie some! I'm not sure about that, you'd really have to strip that thing non stop so it wouldn't sink. A larger foam head or foam under body could help it float higher. No disagreement with adding more foam, but I would be twitching that little beast constantly with short Rod-tip actions and pulling slack slowly. And, welcome to the forum, we like ideas, fly porn, and fish pictures here. Carry On...
