Lucian.Vasies 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2018 Hi guys, Here is my own way to tie my spent flies. Other method is with fixing the CDC in dubbing loop - a Marc Petitjean way. I found the last one more durable but it takes at least 3 times more to make it... Which is your version? Thanks, Lucian
Bimini15 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2018 I have only tied a couple. I did CDC tips forward, then two wings separated by the wingcase (the rest of the CDC feather folded forward, tied and trimmed.
spiralspey 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2018 I don't tie spent wings. I can't see them at distance, and I like to see my flies. Plus the trout where I usually fish aren't too picky, so when spinners are on the water I can usually fool most of them with a dry that lies low in the surface film like comparaduns or parachutes. Dave G. 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2018 No I never have nor ever fished them. I've never seen fish on the real ones where I fish moving water.
Northeast Brookie 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2018 Lucian; Beautiful Body! To confirm, was that stripped peacock? For wings, I've used wally wings, and then CDC as the hackle.

tjm 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2018 Thanks for sharing that, Lucian. Pretty nice fly.
Sandan 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2018 I usually use flouro fiber or z-lon for spinners. 2 20s and 22 ( I know the quill on the bottom fly is too fat)
