  1. Ducky, what is the material behind the maribou colar on the second row? Would also like to know the recipe for the fourth row.
  2. That's really great. They are adorable. Enjoy them while you can, they grow up so fast!!!
  3. I don't, maybe I should do an inventory! Before I go to a show or my local Orvis store, I usually go through all of my stuff to see what I might need.
  4. Great Looking pattern Joe. I will definately tie a couple of those!!!
  5. I call this pattern, the Bassinator. If you tie it in black or another dark color, should work for high muddy water. This fly really pushes a lot of water.
  6. I will be there all day tomorrow. Look forward to meeting you Stack.
  7. It is a 3/0 O'Shawnessey. I don't remember the brand. I have them in an organizer. Thanks for the compliments.
  8. Here is an alternate pattern for my fly swap. It is a lot easier to tie and and looks almost as good.
  9. duckydoty, here is the link to the recipe I used. http://brianmullaney.com/ultrashrimp.htm I used 5 minute epoxy, but I am probably going to switch to the 30 minute epoxy to give me more time to work with it. Henry, could you pm me with some of your suggestions to make the fly better? Joe Thanks for the comment.
  10. This is my first time dealing with epoxy. This is also my first Ultra Shrimp. I think it turned out ok. I learned that you have to wait until the epoxy is in that in between stage where it is not runny or sticky before you apply it or it runs into the legs. I am toying with the idea of tying these for a fly swap on another site. What do y'all think? Here is a pic.
  11. I told my wife that I wanted to make an organizer for my tying stuff. She bought me the kraft wood and dowels some time ago before deer season started. I got around to making it the other day. Here are a couple of pics.
  12. Look again. I gave you some company. Great feature Will.
  13. I am left handed and tie and do 99.9% of everything else left handed.
  14. I agree with Steeldrifter and Bentflyrod, The main reason, I go to my local shop and spend untold amounts of money on tying and fly fishing stuff is that they know me by name and they really like to talk flyfishing. Even if you don't buy anything, these guys always take the time with me. I could always order the stuff online a little cheaper, but my computer dosn't talk flyfishing. It also makes it a lot easier to have something worked on for service or warrenty issues. It is a pain in the butt to send stuff back. Customer Service is the key. If you and your fellow staffers are always freindly, helpful and suggestive without being pushy, you will be sucessful. Its the little things like if you buy a new fly line from them, they spool it on the reel for you even if you didn't get the outfit from them. Good Luck PS I have a similar dream except I want to have a kayak fishing store with kayaks and all types of fishing gear. I hope it works out for you.
  15. Will, This is a great site. I have been here almost a year and it has been awsome! It is the best fly tying site on the net. It has one of the best setups of any site I have been on. I extend my thanks to you and everyone that make this forum possible. Without this site, I know my tying would not have progressed as far as it has in just over a year. Happy birthday and congratulations FTF.
  16. This one has been the demise of quite a few largemouths over the last week or so. They really hit this thing hard. Here is the Recipe and tying instructions and some pics for the fly Eyes: Medium Gold Deep Water Eyes or Gold Bead Chain or none depending on desired sink rate Hook: 3/0 Gamagatsu B10S Stinger Hook Thread: Orvis White "G" Body: Ice Chinille(used White on this one) Under Tail : 15 to 20 strands of Crystal Flash Tail: Magnum Zonker Strip Over Tail: Medium Marabou Collar/Throat: Saddle Hackle 1. Tie in 15 to 20 strands of Crystal Flash on top at bend of hook. 2. Tie in Magnum Zonker Strip on top of Crytal Flash about two times the length of hook. 3. Tie in one or two Marabou feathers on top of Zonker Strip. 4. Tie one end of Ice Chenille at front of tail. 5. Advance thread to 1/4" from eye of hook. 6. Tie in Deep Water Eyes or Bead Chain if desired. (Note: The Eyes can be tied in first after preping hook with thread. Your choice) 7. Wrap thread back just behind eyes and tie in hackle. 8. Wrap Ice Chenille forward to eyes and wrap around eyes and tie off with a couple of thread wraps. 9. Palmer Hackle previously tied behind eyes and tie off. 10. Move thread to front of eyes and whip finish. Pics Here is the link that I got the pattern off of http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/eb...vpost?id=323028. This is an awesome pattern.
  17. The wife and I went fishing at a buddy of mines pond this evening. She had caught a small bream and lost a pretty nice bass when our dog Charlotte knocked it off at the bank. We had fished for over an hour and the top water bass popper I usually use was not working. I was about to chaulk the whole evening up to the skunk when I said to my wife, I want to try something. I tied on one of my sinking flies I call the combo fly that has a lot of action to it. It was just about dark so I told her one more cast. Well I flung it out there and after about two strips, I felt a hard thump, I stripped it again and wham. It was on then! The fish went straight to the weeds. I told her if I have to get in, I am going to land this bass. I kept pressure on it and after what seemed like an eternity but in reality was just a couple of minutes It came out of the weeds and I lipped a 2-10 LM bass. That was soo cool. I didn't take the camera and even if I had it was dark by the time I got the fish in. I love fly fishing, especially when you catch them on your own flies!
  18. PoOgs I used Super Hair for the fly.
  19. No, I didn't use a spinnerbait skirt Gary, but thanks for the idea. One thing I did do though is to tie the legs on before I seperated them. Also inverted legs on the bottom set just like a spinnerbait to make them flare out more. I am waiting on some different colored legs to try some different color combos. Will post pics when I get the stuff and tie some more. Thanks for the comments Guys. Really appreciate it.
  20. This is my first try at a pigboat.
