  1. Camp dry works great, just lay them out and spray them and let them dry over night... feathers
  2. That was a beautiful story, my dad and I use to fly fish together, it was "our" time.. Once a year we went to Wyoming for a week as a vacation. I'd give everything I own just for one more trip there. You don't realise what you have until its gone. Thanks again feathers
  3. I know I haven't been on here much, I've had 2 more surgeries, and extensive physical therapy on my knee. Then can't for get work. And I am sorry for the delay but I hope this will answer some questions of those who has sent me emails on those certificates: First of all: There is no deadline, as long as God pumps blood thru my veins they are valid. Secondly: I can make a reproduction from a picture of a fish you caught from years ago, the more information the better of course on the out come on the fish, but I will work out the details on that with the individual and Im sure we can come up with a happy medium. It's hard when all the measurements aren't available, but I can work around that. Third: If you catch a fish, just take a few pictures, and the nose to tail measurement and the girth, and wrap it in newspaper and placing a piece of cardboard by the tail to protect it from bending and/or breaking helps a million. I only spray a lacquer (same paint thats on your vehicle) then I coat with it with clear coat and bake it for several days. I feel lacquer brings out the true colors when it was alive other than any other colors on the market. I place them on driftwood, but I don't over kill on the wood, the fish is the most important specimen on the wall, not the wood. At least in my eyes. With cold water fish, I put on a cast head, this way I eliminate any chances of greasing out, cracking, shrinking, etc. and you'll never know the difference. All this is at no cost to you. It just takes a bit longer thats why Im mentioning it. I email the winner when the fish is going to be shipped, so they have something to look forward too, and all I ask in return is a email stating their fish arrived at their residence. Please feel free if there is something I didn't cover, just bare with me when sending me a email, it may take me a day or two to get back to you, I'm just starting to move around with out saying ^&%$ every step I take.lol.. feathers
  4. Very nice...Certainly deserved... feathers
  5. What about bolsars.com they're about 7 bucks a dozen, or http://www.ydflies.com/ they're about 6.50 a dozen, all honesty why not open your offer just to the newbies, it would help them out buying more supplies for themselves, and also build their confidence... There is nothing like hooking onto a fish from something you made from your own hands... feathers
  6. Thanks guys, I was boxing up a shoulder mount elk, and was in a hurry to take it to the airport, one of the guys who works for me was running late, so I decided to do it myself...Well I straddled the 2x4 frame and was holding the plywood with my legs as I ran the nail gun around on the studs, well I missed a stud and it went thru the plywood and it went 3/4 thru my knee...The nail was sticking out the outside of my knee...So 2 surgeries later and a robot like brace I'm back home... Oh and on the brace the guys put a piece of duct tape on it, stating that.... {stupid hurts} I can still mount as long as I sit in a chair, crutches suck, but it could of been worse... feathers
  7. I had a accident with a bosch air nailer and my knee...Not pretty, but Im back and would like to leave a few messages that are long overdue... Smallie, I will get those gift certificates out to you by tomorrow, very sorry for the delay... Also mrjim, I got my neices flies back last week stating address unknown, so could you kindly send me a pm with your addy once again... I do apologize for the delays, but now that I am back home, I can get some things done... feathers...
  8. Take a trip to PA and bring your tube and we'll hit the pond, open invitation... I can't wait to be honest, I was looking in the bass pro shop master catalog for some accessories...hehe feathers
  9. Very nice... A job well done... feathers
  10. One of the main reasons I bought the tube was I archery hunt an old farm and on this property is a pond, about 30 acres give or take a few, and on the back side as I walk around this pond, the water is crystal clear that you can see the bottom...I see these trout swimming around like submarines, in the evening as I am walking out from my stand, the pond starts to explode with these fish jumping for their dinner...I own a ranger boat, I can't get my boat to this pond...The farmer told me I could open the logging road up to take my boat back there, but I don't want to disturb his property, I wouldn't want anyone cutting trees on mine... The history of this pond from what he told me is this: He used to raise trout for the State for their stocking program in the late 80's and shut down his business affairs with the fish commission in 94 when his wife died...So no one has ever fished this pond... So from all your replies with hints and suggestions, I can't wait for the ice to melt off this pond to see what I actually hook onto...He told me on the cliff side of the pond is a old creek bed and he said when he use to shock the pond to take out the breeders for the state on that side of the pond was always the biggest fish... Thanks again for all of your help... feathers
  11. Thanks for all the input...I do appreciate it...Now is the count down till the ice comes off the lakes, hehe... feathers
  12. My white river phat tube and flipper combo came Saturday, so before I head out there and look like a a$$, I was wondering if the members who have experience using tubes can share their pro's and cons, their do's and don'ts. One of the neighbors at the local bar told me weight has alot to do with stability, I weigh 117 pounds, so could someone tell me if this is true? Cause my brothers bust on me when its real windy here to put rocks in my pockets now, so I don't blow away, I don't want to float into another state..hehe... thanks feathers
  13. Smallie: I didnt realize you had so many entries, I offered gift certificates for next years contest and seeing how many flies you received, I will donate 20 gift certificates for this years contest as well... They will all be for mounts/or reproductions... Hope this helps out.... feathers...

  22. I used to make alot of poppers out of cork. I made a little device which made it the easiest to shape the cork without it falling apart, or having chunks coming out. Get a soldering iron, a 2x4x6 block of wood/2-2x4x4 and make a square I dremel'ed out a so the soldering iron fits in this securely. Then I got a piece of universal strapping and ran that across the top and screwed that to the wood. I got a piece of 10 guage copper wire and wrapped it around the end (like a snake coiled up ready to strike) of the soldering iron and came across to the other side and screwed that down tight. I clamped this to the work bench when using this, but its not necessary. Plug it and let it warm up a few minutes and it will cut thru the cork like butter, if your making smaller poppers then use a finer copper wire. Then when your done making your cuts with the wire, you can use the end of the soldering iron (carefully) to smooth out any mistakes you might of made. Then get sand paper and very lightly sand it down to your liking. feathers
