  1. John, I am a Missouri boy, I will check the local tv listings and see when it is on .I have seen a couple of episodes, though I dont care much for the show itself I would be willing to help you out. Tube A.K.A Glen Miller
  2. I started with a Thompson model B and graduated to a model A and I now use a Renzetti Traveler and have for about 15 years. I love it ! I have the clouser arm and have it mounted on a Dyna king swing arm with a trash catcher. The rotary feature not only sped up my tying but helped with the quality of fly I was turning out. Spinning hackle on my dries is a breeze these days! Tube

  4. Orion, I have taken many trout on this pattern literaly all over the world. I took rainbows and browns in new Zealand and south west Australia on it as well as the Mad river in Vermont , so, Here tis. Hook: Mustad 94840 size 18 to 28 Thread: 12/0 White griffin's shear Tail :Clear Micro fibbets tied divided style Abdomen: White Grffins sheer Tying thread ( the same as you are tying with) Wing: white Antron yarn fibers tied as a spinner ( Be sparse with your wing) Thorax black ploy dubbing done fairly sparse wrapped around wing to hook joint only. This gives the fly a buggy look. Finish off with a nice small head Good fishing, Tube P.S. If you need a pic let me know, I will post one

    I Give Up!

The last time I posted here I ranted about Trout Tourney's on Lake Taneycomo Missouri . Well boyz and Gurls, I gave it up! Yuppers, down right gave my favorite lake to the flat landers and NASCAR wanna be's and have went elsewhere. Not only have I given up my Favorite lake but, for the most part Trouting altogether. Not to dispair, I Have instead taken up Hunting Smallies in Central Missouri. ( I wanna see em run that 20 foot BassCat up the Upper Auxvasse Creek at 80 mph!) AH! Solitude at last !!!!!! Tube
  9. Not bad for a bass man . the only thing I would do different is tie your head off when it is built up enough for the bead to slide over it tight, then tie a nice neat head in front of the bead , this not only makes a neater looking fly but also makes getting to the hook eye easier. Tube
  10. Sorry OSD I almost forgot all about it!!!! I need your mailing address . Tube
  11. I haven't had a Problem either with the longer hooks and I tie and use some of Carrie Stevens patterns and those are done on 9 x long hooks. long as you keep pressure on the fish they don't shuck them Tube
  12. I have gone to using a braided loop on the bussiness end of my fly line especially since my last line was over $50. still use a surgeons knot for tying in tippet section and repairing the shock tippet. when I build a leader I use a nail knot. All are great knots. Use what works best for you Tube
  13. Duncan loop for nymphs and streamers because the fly has a more natural action in the water and is fairly strong . Dries and jigs the good ol improved clinch. when tied right it to is a good strong knot and is fairly easy to tie. Tube
  14. Ok if I do my eyed Gammarus in a size 14??? Tube
  15. Just wondering if the flies are on thier way? Tube
  16. Used one while I was in Australia last year. not a bad vise , well made but expensive. comes with a nice carrying bag Tube
  17. http://www.flytyingforum.com/index.php?act...w&s=&showid=293 Here is a link to one of my patterns that has turned out to be a killer in Missouri and Arkansas should work in Pa as well
  18. I have found that if the pattern is calling for biots for tailing or legs you can use a varity of different materials to get the same effect. ie stripped hackle stems, Maribou for tails on like stone fly patterns gives the fly a little buggier look in the water . I use rubber legs or knotted pheasant tail sections for legs or you could use palmered hackle under the wing case for a leggy look, There is all sorts of stuff you can do to tweek the pattern to your needs . Experiment and have fun with it! Tube
  19. Tough break smallie, I know what you mean about pain, I have had Arthritis for many years and the pain sometimes is more than I can take. I know this is different stuff, for me I have to stay active or it just gets worse. The spey thing sounds like a good idea. Have you thought about trying a faster rod? A fast action blank would load easier I would think. Tube
  20. Sweet Tie!! I do Atlantics as a hobby and wished mine turned out as well. Tube
  21. " Didn't put enough dirt on it, saw it right off"
  22. I aint even going there . I tie some pretty good stuff but knotting biots that is beyond me, Tried, bad results . maybe one of these days Ill give it a try again. How much this guy get for his flies? Might have to give up tying nymphs and just buy the from him. Tube
  23. Nice ties everyone !! I cant wait to get mine!!! Tube
  24. Gary would be proud of those, Nice Ties!!!!! I incorparate some of his technique with some of mine for wets and soft hackles. Again nice work. Tube
