  1. Oh, BTW, I believe the most important thing in selling anything (other than delivering a quality product) is to build a solid customer base, IMO the best way to do this is at small fishing shows and swap meets, set up a simple and professional table, talk to as many people as possible, hand out lots of cards.
  2. That would explain how he does it then, thanks.
  3. I'm just in Richmond Hill, I have a friend who get's half off wen buying from hareline just for having the number, doesn't need to buy in bulk so I thought I'd give it a shot. Do I need an HST # to get s a SIN #?
  4. Nice looking humpy again Cheech! I love a well tied humpy but they are a pain in the a** to tie.
  5. Sorry to derail this post a bit but I have a question. I've been tying commercially for a few years now. I'm only 16 so I'm not required to pay tax yet, and I once I register I won't be making enough to be required to pay income tax anyways. Recently I've been hearing about the discounts a lot of companies offer to commercial tyers and have been considering registering my business to be eligable for them. My question is, is there any specific tax on fishing products in Canada like there is in the states?
  6. LOL, thanks, I've been considering getting one for a while now, but the price tag scares me away every time. Can you just push straight back with it or do you have to turn it a bit, that's when my stacking falls apart.
  7. Are you guys using the Fugly packer?
  8. Remember with silkworm gut it will dissolve over time.
  9. If you come over to the great lakes tribs you'll see that every spring and fall, maybe not that bad but close to it.
  10. Not sure of the pattern you're referring to but in streamers you can usually use squirrel and bucktail interchangeably.
  11. Magog smelt, 10x long shank #2 no yellow
  12. Definitely would be nice to get a better view of that one Henderson!
  13. Very nice! Jburge, looks like latex to me.
  14. I fish beads (on the pin) quite a bit actually, and can say it doesn't make a difference in terms of numbers of foul hooked and flossed fish, but it does in hooking percentage. I think Jam is right about why the intruder is generally accepted, if you look at these flies you'll also notice that the wire ends before the tail, so it's not really separate from the body.
  15. I did, but it doesn't provide much info on how they're designed.
  16. Well there are attractor streamers and dries, the names are describing how it will appear when fished and what kind of hook it will be tied on.
  17. I've never really played around with attractor nymphs but I was thinking of trying some. My question is what do you look for in one of these flies? Just something bright and buggy? Do you still try to match the general profile of any specific bug? Thanks, Chris
  18. The head could be a little smaller but for your first night I'd say you did quite well
  19. Just wondering, why not use coloured foam? For glue I've found most super glues work, despite the warnings, contact cement is a good choice as well.
  20. The only thing I can think of is that tubes don't give the fly the same keel weight, I've tried them and am just not a fan.
  21. I just got my first glass stick and I like it better than all of my graphite stuff, not for nostalgia but just for how smooth it is. Steve, try fiberglass flyrodders, I can guarantee you'll get a better response there
  22. Are they fanning out vertically (flaring) or are they spreading out to the sides? If vertically then one (or both) of two things are happening, taking bucktail from the lower half of the tail means you're taking the more hollow hair, take it from the top third of the tail and you'll be amazed what a difference it makes. The other possibility is you don't have a good tail, choose tails that have long, straight fibres and flexible skins. If they are fanning horizontally this is also a relatively easy fix, it happens when stacking bucktail on flies like finns. Tie the hair in full length so the butts arevery long, make a few tight wraps and then pull both sides of the hair up, this will prevent them from rolling. You can also cut the butts at a 45 and wrap your thread into the butts, this will lock them down tighter, which could also be your problem.
  23. Bottom one looks great! Here's a very poorly steelhead tie. Did the body in hand, wings in the vise.
  24. Nice! Ya they make 1's and 0's but they aren't easy to find haha. That should be a tonne of fun to fish, you going to try for some lake O steelhead with it? LOL
