  1. I grade my flies by their ability to catch fish.
  2. Ever consider a metal drum? Punch some holes in the sides close to the bottom so it will draw then when you're done all your ash will be in the can.
  3. Absolutely not! Jk welcome to the thunderdome.
  4. I would guess manufacturing flaw plenty of duck hunters get their shells wet every year and you were just the lucky feller that found one that got moisture to it.
  5. I don't know how to use my whip finish tool I just watched a few fly tying videos till i got it down with my fingers.
  6. Welcome. Do you ever get out on Meade or Mojave? Stripers can be really fun on the fly when you get it down.
  7. I like Kerr to Blunks. There are a lot of big fish between Galena and Blunks, all my pb bass have came out of that stretch over the years.
  8. Welcome aboard! There's more SW Mo peple on here then I thought. So where do you all fish the most? I'm from the Galena area so I fish the james river mostly and Crane creek and Flat creek occasionally.
  9. My grandfather and me use to catch them when i was younger by standing in a creek with a window screen while he stirred the creek bed up up stream of me. Awesome smallmouth bait.

  11. I have had them hit circle hooks a lot and never had one stick.
  12. May be just me but all i see is a blue lego with a ?
  13. Jig, clouser, W/E I have enough materials to make clousers till my fingers fall off now. The jig hook idea just got my attention a little bit but I have a bunch of 1/60 oz jig heads I need to do something with so I probly won't worry about doing any bead head wuchamacallits as of yet.
  14. I tied a bunch last year but nothing really liked them, I did catch fish on them, but they were hit and miss. I think they were to thick and the eyes were to far foreword so they kinda nose dived. If i use the jig hooks do i tie them any different? Also i am having trouble finding 60° hooks in a size 6 I found some 4s but they seem a little small.
  15. A couple of those have chart in them it just didn't show up very well in the pic. I had a bunch of olive/white clousers but I think they are all gone now.
  16. I have done a bunch of 3-5" clousers for summer smallies but I'm wanting to do some 1-2" ones for spring white bass. So i was wondering what hook/eyes you guys would use on something that small.
  17. A few things i have thrown together, I started out with bucktail because I have had good luck throwing clousers I have new materials in the mail though.
  18. Hello, I spend most of my time chasing smallmouth in the streams and rivers of SW Missouri. I picked up the fly rod a few years ago to try something new, and I'm kind of a DIY guy so I am trying to get into fly tying, at first it was to save money but meh.. I enjoy catching fish on something I have created, so I'm looking foreword to some good instructionals and maybe adapting some of those big pike streamers for bass fishing here in the ozarks.
