  1. WOW!!! Very impressive!!! I can't imagine the patience you have!!! OUTSTANDING!!!
  2. I have a Canon S1 IS- Very easy to operate good quality pictures and I got mine for around $300. I know that with accessories you can spend tons They are now up to the Canon S3 IS-or just get yourself a Rebel, I know quite a few people that are very pleased with it! When I was first looking for a camera I found this GREAT website http://www.dcresource.com/buyersguide/ It breaks almost all cameras down-shotgun style. He takes pictures/movies(if applicable) with almost all the cameras. Just a fantastic website for research on digital cameras
  3. Wilcara-Thanks! Well..unfortunately you can't see it real well due to my camera phone's resolution, but you can see the black magic marker where I traced out the vice I just used the knife on my gerber multitool!! Cutting length wise on the foam was pretty easy, we have one of those big paper cutters at the office and it has those nice lines to keep it even then "kwop" nice straight cut foam on the sides and top those were already cut out for the power supply and other accessories for what the case was originally for!!(if you see the top of the case it says Random-it was originally made for an old computer console) Just so happened the spools fit perfectly on top. I think what I'll do next is make some cut outs for all of my tools next to the vise and use the top left corner for a fly corner...the hackle and heads on my buggers on top are getting smashed :wallbash:
  4. Fantastic!!!! I'm getting all excited just looking at them! hahahahahaha, great looking box
  5. I work 3rds, I'm the only tech scheduled in about a 60mile radius that works those hours!!! Tying is about the only reason I like 3rds Helps me get through the dead nights. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to tie any tonight busy busy busy
  6. LOL....U bet...Hopefully I'll be going for another record tonight... :yahoo: I'll be in town this coming monday and I don't want to see a vise sitting on your desk on your "break"...you should be working while you are at work!!! HAHAHHAHAHA :j_k:
  7. Thanks all! bentflyrod....looks like your's can hold a heck of a lot more material than mine!!! I have my eye on another case that I might be able to "find" hehehe...depending on if no one has used it in a while OLB- I know exactly what you mean! Unfortunately I have to drive a min. of 3 hours to get to any good steelies and I try to bring my vise/material w/me and most times I forget something. I'm looking to do some mods to the case for holding my tools and spools. If I can get it the way I am wanting to do it I'll repost the pics!
  8. uhm...this probably should have been in a different forum maybe off topic...I'm still a n00b (or b00b)hehehehe Sorry!!!
  9. I just "found" this case lying around. Pretty nice hardshell. So I've re-organized some of my things. Now I have a traveling case Right now I have everything I need to tie Wooly Buggers/ESL's/Eggs/Spawn Sacs(Steelhead season is upon us :yahoo: )....locked and loaded
  10. I know for most it's not very impressive but...I just tied 10 ESL's in an hours time. WOOHOOO!!! (considering my avg. time was about 8-10min a piece) The first one I tied was pretty good but took me much longer, then my quality/consistency seemed pretty crappy on the following 3. After a snaffoo(fun word ) on the 5th I'm proud to say for the most part 6-10 are relatively the same quality and look much better!!! I figure after about 6 or 7 more times of doing this my time should decrease and quality increase.
  11. well...unfortunately, I won't be getting to any fly shop w/in the next 2-3wks, and in need of a vise....So I did what every other impatient man does and ordered a new vise I didn't end up with a peak...I was doing some calculating and the vise I got was under $100, and has excellent reviews...I figure this will give me more money for supplies n such which I am in need of!!...and I can still take my family to Burger King!! LOL... :j_k: I thank you all for your input!! I'll let you all know if I like it or if I return it and get a different one
  12. Gregg, I am so very sorry for you and your family. You will all be in my prayers.
  13. I've got about 15-18lbs of copper "jumper wire" and cat 5 under my desk  I saw this post and it got me thinking.... I was kinda curious if the insulation, when properly stripped would act as a great set of legs? I've got white/blue,blue,white/orange,orange,white/brown,brownwhite,red,green...and the funny thing is, its all scraps...from about 5' to 25' lengths
  14. :hyst: :hyst: :hyst: :hyst: :hyst: :hyst:
  15. Hey Bugcam...Can I send you my beagle!! I cannot get him to calm down when we have company...He goes a little crazy!! I've seen worse...but shew, I couldn't imagine him laying down if a toddler/stroller would come near him...He has to check it out. He does real good with our 15month old...I have yet to see him jump on/around her. We worked with him when we first brought our daughter home and he has been real good with her. The beagle(Chubby=name ) is almost 3 (November) He's a really smart dog...just wish I could figure out how to get him to stop going crazy when we have company
  16. ok...so I'm going to take the advise of FLY TIME....moneys in the mail, have fun lol,jk ....really though I'm going to try to get to a fly shop...to check out the different vices. Honestly I think I'm going to end up with a Peak. I think that it seems to have the most bang for my buck and is what I'm looking for in a vice Thanks for all your advice everyone!
  17. been tying for about a year(off/on during steelie season), I hope to be able to look back at this post in a few years and laugh at all those crappy flies I tied when I started...and maybe I'll get one of those Fancy awards under my avatar!!!
  18. Ok, so I got a pressure washer for my b-day...happy bday to me ...its been about 3 wks since I got and have not used it :dunno: (time constraints), so I'm taking it back. About 10min ago I got really frustrated at my vise because the hook moved/popped out while tying a wooly bugger...I then looked a little closer at the jaws and see that they are a little bent where I tighten the hook down...Am I tightening too hard? Cuz I really don't like it when the hook moves. It's just a cheapy $15 vise. So my delima...ok not really a delima, but a shopping spree that I would like to invest wisely. I was thinking about spending 150-200 on a vise and the rest on supplies...hackle,chenille,thread. Would this be wise, or should I spend more on a vise and just save up for supplies? or should I just bank the cash and buy all my flies through anglerschoiceflies.com :headbang: What would you do?
  19. That is pretty sweet!! I don't think my wooly bugger would win though
  20. hmmm...I need a bench!!! Sometimes I'll have some DSL or other comm. cards in my cube, they run about $500-5k depending on what type of card it is :dunno: oh ya and a worthless pocket PC that I play Solitaire on!!!
  21. Thanks for the advise!! I will definately find the breaking points in the thread...My flies tend to fall apart after about a dozen casts...I'm almost positive it is the knots I have been tying to finish...ok really I think they were just loops!! hahaha...thanks for the animations! Very helpful! I also found a few video's on another post. I love this site!! Just waiting for them to block this site at work too!! I work for a telephone company...I am the only one that works in a 75mile radius on 3rd shift...kinda nice...sometimes I'm real busy and don't get a chance to play around....other nights I can squeeze in a couple of hours I'm trying to get as many flies tied before November. Hey Redwings...Josh is going up to the river Thanksgiving w/end...and I hate him and if you go...well, we'll just see what happens...hehehe...looking forward to the upcoming season...maybe we can all hook up
