I'm very interested in the 'liquid glass' experiment. Is is "reasonally available" to the general public? My initial concern is air bubbles around the dubbing or hackle, but I'd love to sink some flys into a display! Please, let us know more!

Yup... just dropped $20 for a bunch of stuff... seems to be a pretty good deal, if only based on volume!!!! I like the look of that bug wrap, I can't wait!!! Kinda like Christmas, huh ??

Any chance you'd want to tell us a little about airbrushing?? I bought one of those "canned air" kits for my kids to paint models, but they never used it. I may even still have it!! Any recommendations or tips would be GREATLY appreciated!! I wanna do a bunch of poppers this winter!

The first poppers I made were with regular 'corks' from a hardware store. Didn't even sand'm... left them with the 'sharp' edges... cut a slit for a hook, glue it in place, wrap a feather around... OR NOT... paint the thing... experiment, try packages, test paints... It ain't hard! Show us some pictures of what you wind up with!!

No, that's OK, should be pretty close to everyone on the EST! It's not a big thing, just wanted to see if anyone else had that problem...

When I arrive each day to look into the forum, I can see which items are new and/or unread. After I click through two or three discussions, the cookies seem to get reset and everything is marked as read! Even on a higher level, all of the forums get marked as having been read as well. Does anyone else see this behavior? Is there something I can do to correct it? Obviously it's not critical, but it would be helpful! Thanks!

I guess it depends on the size of the cracks, but I sometimes sand my fingers with a very fine emery (sp?) cloth or sand paper. I've been using a fingernail emery board with a very fine grit on one side.... does the trick for me!

I still have the first dozen or so that I tied. At first it was more to keep them away from anyone who might critique my work... Now I keep them to remind me how far I've come!

20 something years ago I walked into a little fly shop in Middleburg, Virginia, to look at the fishing stuff. I talked to the owner, who builds beautiful cane rods with ONE GOOD HAND, and told him I was learning... He sat me down and showed me how to tie a bugger, gave the fly to me, and I've been hooked ever since. There have been periods of "necessity" tying, and periods of experimentation, and realism. It's been fun, to say the least! Thanks, Hank, for that first fly!

Jacob is a freshman this year, so gotta support the home team. (even if they are 250 miles away!) So, HS football on Friday nite, drive to Blacksburg, sleep 4 hours, get up and go to Tech for the college game, visit with son, drive back to Northern Virginia Saturday night... funeral for self on Sunday ;o) What's not to love?
