  1. There was a product awhile back called "Micro Cables" from a company called "Doug's Bougs" that did exactly what you are doing by twisting multiple strands of the same color wires together and multiple colored strands of wire together. Heres a link that talks about them: http://flyfishing.about.com/ftb/ssmaterials/index10.html Dont forget to use the MACRO function on your camera. The symbol is usually a flower. Put a colored piece of paper behind the fly and have some good lighting. Turn OFF the flash.
  2. QUOTE (JarrodRuggles @ Dec 31 2004, 05:29 PM) If I just totally screw it up,.....I take a razor and POOF! A new hook to start again. Jarrod, Why did you waste all the time and effort and totally screw it up when all that was necessary was to back up a step or two and get it correct in the first place? When I tie, Ive got a foto of what I'm tying either from a book, on my computer monitor or on a paper I copied from the net. If my fly dont look similar, I'll find out right away where I goofed up and redo the step not the entire fly. Everybodies methods to this madness of fly tying is different anyway!

  15. It was easier to put a couple of bucks in the envelope than to try to explain the coupon thing!
  16. Dfix, Thats exactly what I told them and the USPS is still Clueless in Connecticut!
  17. Tightlines, I put my flies in the mail this morning and they are on their way. I also asked the clerk at the post office for an "International Reply Coupon" and she had no clue what I was asking for. Anyway I included $2.00 for return postage. It only cost $1.85 to mail it to Canada! I wont post the pattern recipe here since it will be on the card everybody will receive with their fly. Thanks for hosting this swap.

  24. I get the impression here that the only "Classics" are Salmon Flies. True there are alot of Salmon flies that are "Classics" but what about the Gold Ribbed Hares Ear, Pheasant Tail Nymph, Wooly Buggers, Royal Wulffs etc etc etc. How about the streamers of Carrie Stevens? How about the Quill Gordon, Hendricksons, Elk Hair Caddis, Cahills,Comparaduns. Do any of these count or are they too young to be considered a "Classic"? Catskill style flies? Just rambling!
  25. Its been around for a long time and is a very effective pattern. Fished it in the mid 80's on the Bighorn River in Montana with great success. Doesnt anybody in your area of the country read Whitlock?
