This fly has been in the making for a while now. Paul from the youtube channel Killer Fuz contacted me about his idea for making a fly on a worm hook. One that will be fully weedless. I had already wanted a good sunfish imitation, so I started tying it. Then I came up with adding the orange beads for both a rattle and to insure it swims hook point up, or keeled. It took quite a few tries though to get this just right, and the first time I tried fishing this, I was getting fouled on my fly line because there wasn't enough stiff materials to keep the line from wrapping around. However, with the addition of the Faux bucktail, this issue has been fixed. I am very happy to say, this is the final version of the fly. Well I take that back, I found out that I liked using Coq de Leon soft hackle feathers instead of shlappen for the body feather. But, all in all this is my final version of the fly and I could not be happier.

This is a popular fly! In the last few weeks, I have been asked to tie this in different color patterns. First I tied in a baby brown trout coloration, and then someone asked me to tie it in a rainbow trout color. Now, someone recently asked me to tie this in a perch color. So here it is! This subscriber of mine said he fishes a lake called Navajo Lake, and I have fished it a few times before. There are no baitfish other than perch and bluegill in that lake. So it makes sense that he would want this coloration of a fly. Its a good little fly, and very effective! Check out the underwater movement! And this has been a very effective fly in many of the colorations I have tied it in. So I have no doubt it will work wonders in this color pattern as well. As always, here is a list of the materials I used on this fly. You are welcome to try other materials, and you do not have to stick to these, however I am listing them to help you know what I specifically used. Hook: Gamakatsu B10S in size 2 Thread: Veevus Power Thread 140 in hot orange Weight: Large red painted lead dumbbell eyes Body: Ice Dub in pearl and orange Tail: Barred yellow magnum rabbit strip Head: Senyo's laser dub in white and olive Head Cement: Solarez Bone Dry UV Resin

This fly works awesomely for bass. I have tied it in many color combos already. One perch coloration, a baby brown trout coloration, and now a baby rainbow coloration. I have caught quite a few bass on this fly. Its one of my best producers for fishing my local lake (navajo lake) in New Mexico. My buddy Kyle and I were fishing last summer and we probably caught 20+ fish each and were fishing this pattern most of the day. Just in a perch color. Here are the materials I used on this fly. Hook: Gamakatsu B10S in size 2 - Thread: Veevus Power Thread 140 in Olive - Weight: Large Lead Painted Dumbbell - Accent: Ice Dubbing in Pearl and Pink - Tail: Magnum Rabbit Strip in White - Dubbed head: Lazer Dubbing in Olive and White - Head Cement: Bone Dry UV Resin -

Well lets be honest here, this is not the easiest fly in the world to tie. However, the versatility of it, and the effectiveness is absolutely amazing! Its also durable, and has the ability to interchange the tails so you can really have a few flies in one. With foam towards the back of the fly, and the weight added by the UV resin head, this fly walks the dog effortlessly. Its perfect for top water bass fishing. Materials I used for the fly body Hook 1: Gamakatsu B10S in size 2 Thread: Veevus Power Thread 140 in Olive Wire: Senyo's Standard Trailer Wire Foam: Hairline 2mm Fly Foam Body: Crinoline Tubing Eyes: Brule 3D Hard Epoxy Fish Eyes Head Building Resin: Solarez "Thin Hard" UV Resin Paint On Resin: Solarez "Ultra Thin" UV Resin Split Ring: Materials I used on the tails Hook: Gamakatsu B10S in size 6 Thread: Veevus 10/0 in white Feathers: Bugger Pack in white and grizzly Rubber tail: Cohen's attractor tails small Shank: FTD Fish Joints 5/8" Head Cement: Solarez "Ultra Thin" UV Resin

This fly is one that a friend showed me a while back. In fact you saw me fish with him this past summer. Kyle is his name, and he is the one who took me out on his bass boat to fly fish for some smallmouth bass. He had one of these flies that he said he used for months, and caught probably 100 bass on. It was so durable, and very effective. So of course I went home and tied a few. And sure enough, these are effective and durable. This version I changed up the colors a bit, and some of the materials. Mainly the dubbing used. Its very good quality dubbing, and the synthetic mixed with the natural really makes a unique dubbing. I like this version, and the color pattern really works as a baby brown trout imitation. Materials I used: Hook: Gamakatsu B10S in size 2 Thread: Veevus Power Thread 140 in Brown Weight: Large Painted Lead Dumbbell Eyes Dubbing: Monster Dubbing in Dark Brown, Yellow and White Wing: Magnum Rabbit Zonker in Chinchilla UV Resin: Solarez "Ultra Thin"

If you have ever fished for bass, you know that in most instances, a rattle helps attract them. They are also attracted big baits. Things that push lots of water. I created this fly to still be rather light, but have a big profile under the water. This in my opinion is the perfect fly for bass when they are targeting baitfish, and also a great fly for other species like like pike or even big trout. With a saltwater hook, you could tie this for many saltwater species as well. The flexible UV resin really makes a nice head on the fly, but its not hard and stiff, but it will flex a bit, which makes it more durable. It will give it a unique action as well, and help push water around the craft fur to make it move quite a bit more. The side to side motion will really drive those bass nuts. Hook: Gamakatsu B10S in size 1/0 Weight: 4mm black conehead Thread: Danville's 210 flat waxed in white Tail: Extra select craft fur in white and tan Rattle: Wapsi pyrex round end mini/3mm fly rattle Wrap: Tinsel Braid Eyes: Fish Scull living eyes 7mm wind UV Resin: Solarez Flex

This small crawdad streamer works so well, I was catching fish I want even targeting with it. I went out fishing for carp, and got a carp and even some smallmouth bass. In fact, the carp I caught on this fly was 30" long, and the largest bass I caught that day was a good 3.5lbs. Most crayfish patterns are larger sized streamers, that are heavy and hard to cast. This fly is refreshingly light, and small. Easy to cast, and also easy for fish to swallow. When targeting carp or trout, sometimes too large is a bad thing. Crayfish are a very important food source for many freshwater species. And this fly is made to imitate them. Bass and trout eat crayfish pretty regularly, and this fly has caught both on the end of my rod. The Crayfish Bunny Bugger is a relatively easy fly to tie, and works really well. I have also caught a few saltwater species on this fly, as it can mimic a brown shrimp well also. Redfish and specs both love brown shrimp, and this fly can work well for them. Hook: Daiichi 2220 Size 4 Thread: UTC Ultra Thread 140 Brown Tail: Brown Blood Quill Marabou Legs: Rubber Legs Barred - orange and red Flash: Gold or Bronze Krystal Flash Body Wrap: Yellow or Orange Chenille Hackle: Brown Saddle Hackle Weight: Lead Painted Dumbbell Eyes Wing: Brown Rabbit Zonker Strip

This fly really is awesome! Kyle was fishing this fly last time we went out fishing for smallmouth, and he got quite a few on it. Also, while I was snagging up a few times, he didnt snag once, due to the hook point turned upward. This is a great freshwater streamer, and will catch a wide variety of sportfish. Also, this hook is super sharp! And it seems very strong. I tried bending it and it didnt seem to want to bend too much. I think this is going to be one of my new favorite streamer hooks. I barely touched it, and it ripped me open so quick. But I barely felt it, because the hook was so sharp. This has to be one of my favorite streamers for bass fishing. It swims really well in the water with lots of movement. There is lots of flash in the tail which attracts fish like pike who seem to go after shiny things. Also, this fly doesn't hold a lot of water, so its not too difficult to cast with a 6wt-8wt rod. You could use other materials as well for this. If you don't have Arctic Wind dubbing, you could use hairlines custom blend. It has different properties, but it would work for this pattern. Trout, bass, pike and any other predatory freshwater fish will eat other fish. Small trout are on the meal list for common foods. Even trout will eat trout fry. This rainbow trout streamer will work great for many freshwater species. It moves nicely in the water, and has a bit of a jigging action. These fish skull baitfish heads are awesome! They make building heads easier, and it hides any problems or issues that you have with your flies head and dubbing. It also pushes everything rearward and automatically creates a nice baitfish profile. I caught a few smallmouth bass on this recently at my local lake. The fly swims really nicely, and the smallmouth were eating it up left and right. I also have caught a good sized brown on this fly recently as well. A while back I created a fly that I called "the fat head squishy streamer". This was a perch color pattern and shape. These flies utilized a special long fiber dry fly dubbing from Fly Tiers Dungeon. Then I created a shell of flexible UV curing resin to give the fly a special jerk bait type motion. It kept the fly sinking very slowly, and allowed for a side to side "walk the dog" type motion. Keep in mind, the technique of using flexible UV resin is not my invention, I have seen others do this. However I haven't ever seen anyone use it with a dry fly (high floating) dubbing. This fly was very popular, and I have had a lot of requests for different color patterns. For a long time I have wanted to make a bluegill pattern, but bullfrog dubbing didn't come in blue, which I needed for the pattern. Finally Fly Tiers Dungeon came out with a dubbing they call "arctic snow" and it comes in lots of bright and colorful blends. Finally a squishy head streamer in a a bluegill pattern! What is different however is how this fly is shaped. The original was cylindrical, so it was as fat as it was tall. However this fly is very flat, yet tall, just like a bluegill. Which gives it even better side to side and gliding motion, just like a dying bluegill. Hook: Gamakatsu SS15 - size 1/0 Thread: Danville 210 flat waxed - white Dubbing: Bullfrog dubbing - white, olive, dark olive & yellow Starburst dubbing - pearl & olive Arctic Wind - hot orange, aqua blue, royal blue Eyes: 3D eyes - 8mm, gold Resin: Solarez - flex formula

As the last two Fat Head Squishy Streamers moved well in the water, this one will also. They are great for doing a sort of walk the dog action, and a semi suspending nature. These are awesome flies for many species, especially bass.

Wooly buggers are probably one of the most popular and versatile flies anywhere you fish. From California to Colorado to New York, and not just USA, but other countries as well. Anywhere you can fly fish, you can use a wooly bugger. They work for both fresh and even saltwater, however they tend to be most commonly found as freshwater streamers. These flies are a bit more flashy then the chenille tied buggers, and therefor are better suited in my opinion for more aggressive fish, or even stained water conditions. I created this fly to mimic a skirted jig. When I conventional fish for bass, one of my favorite and most productive techniques is flipping heavy cover with a skirted jig for bass. Attaching on a crawdad type plastic really adds to the bass catching ability. The fly is a little more difficult to tie, but its durable and will last through many fish strikes. Hook: Gamakatsu SS15 size 1/0 (any long shank hook will do). Flash: Black holographic flashabou and bronze krystal flash Back Legs: Bug legs - dark brown and orange Claws/head: Rabbit zonker strip Skirt: barred rubber legs Body: Super Flash Dubbing (copper color) Check out the video here, or click the link below to view it in my website. http://www.mcflyangler.com/freshwater/freshwater-streamers/bad-bass-crawdad-fly

The clouser minnow is one of the most widely used and effective streamer patterns for both salt and fresh water fly fishing. It has a really nice jigging action, and also sinks a bit to where the fish are. Its fairly easy to tie, and uses just a handful of materials. The bucktail moves really nicely in the water as well. If you ever watch the professional bass fisherman on conventional gear, they will throw a color pattern called Sexy Shad quite regularly. This is probably one of the most common crank bait color, made popular by Kevin Van Dam. I decided to copy that color pattern to create a great Large Mouth Bass or small mouth bass fly for fishing the shad spawn. Hook: Gamakatsu SS15 hook in size 2, but it can be tied on any strong long shanked hook. Weight: lead dumbbell eye Thread: Danville 210 flat waxed in blue (can use white as well for this pattern) Body: White, yellow, and blue buck tail Flash: Pearl flashabou (under the white bucktail) and gold crystal flash (under the yellow buck tail) Epoxy: Solarez "Thin Hard" UV curing resin. The "stay hungry" fly is one of my favorite flies to fish for striper in the north west. Here, the striper like fast moving flies, that have lots of movement in the water and use bright colors with lots of flash. These flies match all those requirements. They are large profile flies, that move wonderfully in the water due to being tied with craft fur. I like tying them in white and chartreuse, however you can use what ever colors you want to match the hatch so to speak. They are great for muddy or murky conditions due to pushing so much water, and when tied with bright colors like chartreuse. These flies do take a little time, and a bit of skill to tie. Hook: Gamakatsu SS15 size 1/0 Thread: Danville 210 Waxed (white) Fiber: Craft fur (white and chartreuse) Flash: Krystal flash and flashabou Dubbing: Ice dub (pearl) Body Wrap: EZ body (pearl) Epoxy: Solarez "bone dry" formula. This pattern is one I tie to mimic small fry. Occasionally fish will be feeding exclusively on these small fish. When they do that, you need to get a good fry imitation out there. I tied this to be very realistic and mimic the small fry perfectly. It can be tied in a number of colors, and is relatively simple to tie. The Clouser minnow was originally created back in the mid 80's by Bob Clouser, a legendary fly tier, instructor and fisherman. Soon after the flies creation, fly fisherman around the world started realizing the flies versatility and potential to catch just about any species of fish that eat bait fish. It has the ability to catch many saltwater fish species, as well as freshwater species. I take this fly to every saltwater outing I go on, and also to every lake fly trip for bass, trout, and even pike. If tied on a small hook, you can even crappie fish with it. The fly is rather easy to tie, and can be quite durable, which means you can catch more fish without the fly shredding. You can use other materials than just buck tail, however buck tail is the original way it was tied. Synthetic fibers however can be very effective. I even know someone who ties this with craft fur, and it moves incredibly in the water. Hook: Mustad 3407 size 6-3/0 (I am using 1/0 for the video). You could also use any strong and long shank hook. I commonly use a Gamakatsu SS15 as well. Weight/Eye: Dumbbell Eyes in any size you want. The larger the eye, the faster it sinks, and the smaller the eye, the slower it will sink. I am using a 7/32" size (or 5.5MM), which is rather large. I like mine to sink fast. Body: Bucktail in chartreuse and white. Thread: Danville 210 waxed. Epoxy: Solarez "thin hard" uv curing epoxy.
