SalarMan 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2023 chugbug27 - I have continued looking online, and including through my own stash of materials. The photos I've attached show a very similar and texture to your feathers. However the dark base to my feathers make it obvious they aren't what you have. I've also attached a picture of the bird, which is a native to the Himalayan Mountains and a real beauty!! George

niveker 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2023 I think Denduke was on the right track, some kind of water fowl. Not much help, I know.
SalarMan 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2023 Feathers are obviously smallish (1/2" +or-). Perhaps a songbird like the Rufous-sided Towhee, Eastern Bluebird (male), Baltimore Oriole, etc.??

Troy Bishop 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2023 Too bright to be wood duck unless it was taken from a juvenile.
Guest Report post Posted May 10, 2023 Some exotic ducks possibly could be the more common Cinnamon teal or the infamous spoonbill/ boot lip.
chugbug27 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2023 That sounds the most likely to me. And I've looked and looked myself with no better answers... I'll label it, "Juvenile Orange-Breasted Je Ne Sais Quoi Waterfowl." It will make nice little soft hackles. Thanks for looking.
