I don't know Bruce. That is one fine looking Jock Scott from where I sit!!!

I watched several videos on tying the Jock Scott (one was tying the body and the second finished the fly) since I am not that familiar with tying Classic Salmon Flies. The tier said it normally took 3-3.5 hours to tie a Jock Scott correctly. Fascinating to watch. I did have to wonder what it would be like to be a production tier for these types of flies (especially at 3-4 hours per fly).

That is probably how long it would take me, if not longer, if I tried tying one of the Classic Salmon Flies. Although videos of people tying them are fascinating.

The time frame for me is about the same as Bruce. I often do part of the fly and then might not go back to it for days. I'm just not the type to sit at the vise for however many hours at a time anymore. I suppose if I gave it a go I could do a classic in a day...but that wouldn't be any fun for me and I want it to be a pleasure not a chore.

I'm still trying to find out what a "hornbill" is other than a bird species.
