December Flies From the Vise

Signal Light

Hook - Single salmon
Thread - Black
Tail - Purple hackle barbs tied short
Ribbing - Oval silver tinsel
Body - Rear quarter, dubbed with fluorescent fire orange lamb's wool; the second quarter, dubbed with fluorescent chartreuse lamb's wool; the front half, black chenille
Wing - Strands of blue, pearl, claret, and green Flashabou Accent (or substitutes) mixed and tied over the body, with an overwing of black marabou
Hackle - Purple tied on as a collar and tied back

Randall Kaufmann of Portland, Oregon, originated this pattern.

Finally finished the popper that has been in the vise for over a month. Got to tie several more Murdich Wigglers and Tequeelys to be ready for summer.

Cheeks - Jungle cock eyes or substitute

Last of the year. In over 40 years of fly tying, I probably have enough fingers and toes to count all the winged wets I've tied. I need a lot more practice tying the wings.
