Good Day,

Sorry no pics:

Stonefly nymphs

Green caddis nymphs

Also -

so many flies! so little time to fish!!! there are many flies to use for great lakes steelies! like said above

egg patterns (sucker spawn, glo yarn eggs, estaz, etc)

nymphs (hares ear,caddis,stonefly,etc)

streamers (egg sucking leech, wooley buggers, muddlers, etc)

salmon flies ( mickey fin, comet, etc

good thing to do is search the database for steelhead and stuff

Two that work well for me on both Salmon and Steelhead. They are tied with pheasant tail and diamond braid. Use chartreuse, pink and orange braid; and natural, and purple PT.

Two flies work real well there. Black Stonefly imitations, and Purple Wolley Buggers. An egg pattern is just to lowly for any self respecting fly angler to use. :P mark B)

colors aren't that important...for salmon and steelies you want to vary the colors frequently......if you're still working for your first steelie....I would suggest some estaz eggs and some small nymphs for this time of year (with the water temps dropping, the fish tend to be less likely to chase a big fly down).....if I were you I would start off swinging the comets and if nothing produces....go smaller and start throwing glo bugs or estaz eggs

your comets look good too....nice job
