You know me brother if it ain't red it might as well be dead. Actually the wire color I use is called hot orange, but it looks closer to red to me. Told Alex about the copper crouse, hard to believe that thing works the way it does. Now you need to get that thing working in Colorado and give it it's just rewards.

Where do you all get colors like hot orange and chartreuse wire??

Thanks - Jim

Hello Jim, It is Wapsi Ultra wire, the Hot Orange is in the Ultra wire Vivid selections.

J Stockard carries them http://www.jsflyfishing.com/cgi-bin/item/T...assie-Size.html as well as all colors in each size discounted http://www.jsflyfishing.com/cgi-bin/item/T...assie-Size.html

As does Feather-Craft http://www.feather-craft.com/wecs.php?stor...mp;target=TH206

Among others. I like fine best myself.

Cheers Futzer.

Thanks!!

I agree with DHise about working at certain times. This time of year black is the color to match the little black stones, than I will use olive for BWO's and than red. I love to use this nymph and is always a good producer. I sometimes will tye in partridge as a beard when the fish start to get picky about a plain jane black.

a size 16 green one works for me the best. However I do use a larger copper one to get down better in a dry dropper rig and then throw a midge or pt nymph of the back!

Personally I like to use two different color wires on mine and my best producer has been red and black and or red and dark copper.

I voted other, as I have the best luck with a hot yellow. I think it resembles the Yellow Sally stone nymphs that are common in the waters that I fish. Other than that color of CJ I dont have alot of confidence in the pattern.

I voted copper. Most productive probably cuz it's the one I use most and have most cofidence in. Have tried other colors, but not enough to really form a realistic opinion.

Same here, I have several colors in my box, but have only used copper extensively. Maybe, I should start trying other colors and see how it goes.

Two Toned Brown (or copper) & Hot Yellow (Deadly on the Dream Stream Section of the South Platte)!!!!! I do the vast majority of the Copper Johns that I tie in two toned now !!!!!! (Like Black & Blue is a real Bass slayer).

I voted the original. I do best with the original copper color, but that is probably because I tie and use the original colors most of the time.

I was surprised to see blue as an option. I thought blue copper johns were a bit unique. They can become the go-to fly on the Trinity for steelhead.

I tend to run red and gold wire together... similar to copper, but a little more flash, and more separation in the segmentation because of the alternating colors.
