What does everyone use as their "go to" fly? Mine is the elk hair cadis in #12 or 14.

Depends on the time of year and the species but ........

 

Trout BH hare ear

 

Steelies #14 tan wooly bugger variation or black stone

 

Salmon orange/white bugger

Mine would have to be clouser minnow. Any color and any size! Tight lines and good tyin!-redneck

Well, since I mostly fish steelhead and salmon, will go with steelhead and say the pink bunny leech.

clouser minnow is ideal, but with different materials for different fish (marabou for trout and warmwater, deerhair for saltwater).

 

With the same materials, I would go with the Jon's Generic, which has caught everything from trout to bluegills.

Trout: Hale's minnow, size 6

 

Bass: Clouser, size 6

 

Salmon / Steelhead: - Bead headed bugger, size 8 - white / orange

 

Carp: Dragon fly nymph, size 8

If I had to choose one fly for all species. It would have to be a black Wolly bugger.

If I could pick one for each.

 

Trout-black bugger

Bass- Floating Clouser minnow

Steelhead- Sucker Spawn

I fish mostly Bass,Pike,Walleyeand other warmwater fish it seems I tie on a clouser tied very sparse about 3 out of 4 times to start.
