FlyFishin'Jam 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2014 Ya silk is tops, but don't use it on fishing flies, it will eventually break down. You can also use mono which doesn't look bad either. That is braided mono? I better have a look around as that could be used for fishing too by the sounds of it plus looks better. Might just be lazy tho and do a few more with fireline, i mean it will hold and is very easy.

tctrout 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2014 Here's a video I just made featuring the Splitsville Caddis, a pattern created by Jonny King (of NY). He took Bob Quigley's method of the Hackle Stacker and applied it to a deer hair caddis, creating an extremely buggy looking fly with a strong delta profile. This is a newer pattern, and was just featured in the most recent issue of "Fly Fisherman." It's a really fun fly to tie, plus from what Jonny has told me (and a few guys that knew about this fly earlier on the Upper Delaware system), this is a fly that has had success on finicky trout. Enjoy, TC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4OFedt5WxI
SILKHDH 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2014 Dahlberg Diver with a twist. -Mike This is a game changer for me. (not to quote the new articulated baitfish fly) . Brilliant idea. I planned on making some frogs this year for heavy moss and lily pad areas using this same idea. I thought I would put some bucktail on the trailer hook as a weed guard too. I really like this! This will get me some fish I am sure.
