Went out with a few boys from the club today. Tough day out... worth every minute.

personal best fly capture... 1m long queenfish on a 9wt and 20lb tippet...caught out of 45ft

Wow that's a beauty! looking at that forked tail I'd bet it put up one heck of a fight. What was the fly?

Thx boys.

The fly was a white clouceiver, with a couple of wraps of flashy dubbing brush for that extra sparkle.

she jumped a few times and pulled pretty hard :)

The fly that did the damage...

essentially a half and half (clouceiver) with a flashy collar made using a 2in dubbing brush.

Okay, you say 45' of water but where did you catch the fish? I've caught fish in 1000' of water in Lake Superior but only 5' down. Did you use a sinking line and tippet to get way down or do they work near the surface? Love to see fish that size jump. I've seen big northern, musky, steelhead, chinook, and sturgeon that were measured in feet and not inches jump and it's a heart stopper. (Fortunately it usually starts again)
