Mainard 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2019 I was wondering if most store hares mask and ears whole and trim it as you use it or do you shave it all off and get rid of the hide ? Seems that if you shave off it will take up a lot less space . But wanted others option. Thanks
Poopdeck 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2019 My masks I leave whole. This way I can pull it off of where I want to pull it off.
Noahguide 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2019 I keep mine on the mask per poopdeck, but have considered trying the Barry Clarke method. I just never tie so many that I need that much. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Mxb7IGeEICs https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tTnpaIhG7Gk

Jaydub 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2019 I cut it off and blend it so it's ready to use, leaving a small amount on the skin for tails etc. Some of it gets mixed with antron or other synthetics.

flytire 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2019 i leave the mask in the original packaging use it as needed or shear it off and make your own special dubbing mix https://web.archive.org/web/20130713004102/http://www.jpdessaigne.com/Astuces/dubbing/dubbing_astuces.htm
Jaydub 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2019 Ok sounds like everyone os in agreement. Ill leave them whole. Thanks I'm not, but that's OK. i don't like having to shear off small bits every time I use it.
tjm 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2019 Hair/fur on the mask is of different qualities and lengths in different places on the face and by shearing and mixing you lose the ability to choose what type hair you want, you have more of a mohair or rabbit than mask, imo. Flicted 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2019 I prefer to pick what I need from different parts of the mask. If you were to harvest all the fur, I would make at least 4 batches with different characteristics.
