  3. this will be my first year fishing soft hackles.I tied a dozen and swapped some dog fur to a member on this ite for a dozen more.I'm gonna give them a go this year.I usually high stick nymphs, when trout arent actively feeding. When they r,i usually use emergers and dries. With the ocassional bugger swing, when all else fails. Let you know in about sept, how my thoughts toward soft hackles may have changed. shane

  9. all i know is a woman i work with couldn't see you ...excuse me...if you gave her the bird 5 feet in front of her face. She wore glasses. Then got the eye surgery and didn't where glasses for a few months said she could c perfectly,i see her every now and then with glasses...but there not near the coke bpttles she used tpo wear. shane ps i.ve worn glasses since the 2nd grade, but the thought of getting a lazor shown iinto my eye kinda makes me have tiny littlr heart attacks.
  10. i put 15 min.,being that that would probably be the average of the different flies i tie.Wooly bugger,2min max..Traditional dry about 8 or 9 minutes, emergers anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes, foam ants,beeteles..3 minutes...A full tricked out dave's hopper about 45 minutes....I guess that would comeout to about a 15 munute average dony u think shane
  11. i voted peace and quiet. But its the little things i like most. The distant ripple below my favorite hole, the birds singing there favorite song and most of all,the moment i hear the first splash, announcing that bugs r starting to hatch. shane

    foam

i love foam, just got through tying a few foam and fur stones. From the hatches tutorial.......Is the wing tips supposed to represent a spent stone fly or an adult spreading its wings,,just seems they r a little far aprt from the body 2 me?has anyone fished this fly with success? shane
  16. his family will be in my prayers and hopefully heaven is allot fuller now. shane
  17. Its personal preference really. But carpet blades have no use in tying. Me ,on deer hair flies i use the disposable razors you get at rite aid,u know the one you put in razors to shave with. They r very sharp and flexible. They r all i use on deer hair flies, except for some tweeking with scissors.Scissors, again they both have advantages and disadvantages, personal preference really.hope that helps. shane
  18. 'trout nymph 'should be photographed like my great lakes salmon steelhead,at a slight angle...showing more of top of the fly shane p.s. i will understand if u cant get to this will
