  1. That's true Ben, but don't let it get you down. Oooh tough crowd.
  2. For the record I didnt tie no stinkin cicada! Ive never heard of a musky eating one so they are little use to me right now! PJ clearly just got let out of the looney bin. We will let him slide!
  3. That thing is awesome! Nice job on it!
  4. Simple flies that will no doubt catch fish!
  5. Congrats! Good fish and cool pics!
  6. I agree. Seems to be asked quite a bit! My experience with vises has been minimal. Ive owned 3. Two rather cheap ones and now a Peak. I love my peak. At some point I would like a J-Vise to add to my collection.
  7. Saw these on an inferior forum. They are nice flies and I believe the guy said the eyes are map pins. Pretty cool idea!
  8. Hahaha this is a great thread. I think a sub-forum wouldn't be a bad idea! Ive heard Carp and Suckers called all sorts of things but they (especially Carp) will truly put your angling to the test. Ive been on a role with white and redhorse suckers lately while chasing steelhead. Some in the 6-8lb range that put a good bend in the rod!
  9. Got mine Saturday! I too was under the impression that hooks were coming with! Oh well. It sounds like #2's are a pretty common hook. All look great. Cant remember who made it but I was quite excited to get a chart/white squidtruder!
  10. This made for a great read on a Monday morning at the office! Very detailed and excellent report Jam'! Now its time for us to plan a trip on my side of the world! Its cool to fish quite unique to me (and probably a lot of us on here). They all have interesting characteristics and seem like a blast to catch. The queenfish has some gnarly looking small teeth. I wouldn't want to put my hands near them.
  11. I wish my "side projects" looked half as good as that!
  12. You cannot lower the jaws on the peak vise, however as everyone else has said you just adjust the hook. Its quite simple. I dont see the issue with doing that but to each their own. If you want to spend a lot of money vs a reasonable peak get a nor-vise.
  13. Bill.. you are telling the truth there! Florida keys outfitters is AWESOME. Nice people in there and I love getting their monthly email. And the Green Turtle..GREAT. I love Islamorada, Tavenier, and Key Largo. Some of the best fly fishing of my life! I really am uncertain if there are "better" areas. There likely are comparable areas for fishing Tarpon..but not the scenery and not the same water. For Juvenile Tarpon I do know or have heard Mexico is the place to be.
  14. If there are Musky around they will tear it up no doubt! A guide in VA actually is buying quite a few of them. Hoping to get some pictures this year of caught fish on flies I sell!
  15. Ive hosted a bunch of swaps and shipping unfortunately is always an issue. The best way really is cash. Metered mail is a big no no. And as you said verifying flat rate/priority mail is difficult for the usps. Looking forward to receiving them! Thanks Kevin!
  16. I really like these flies! Im with kirk on the first style. They are a fantastic pattern.
  17. Slider would be a more appropriate term Kirk! You are correct for an actual diver I would have to alter its shape!
  18. This is what I call a 2 beer fly. Took forever! I have no idea what this thing is going to do. It was mostly me taking two staple patterns I sell and putting them together. I plan on giving it a whirl on the full sink line. This weekend Im going to make some "divers" by reversing the head so Ill be able to try that out.
  19. Nicely done utyer and Paul of course!
