  1. They will have great action with those materials and the double articulations. If you don't have a fly rod, borrow one from someone and see how they cast. The beauty of tying your own flies, is that you then can make adjustments. I am constantly amazed at the quality of the tyers on this site. To a person, they are supportive and generous with their time and suggestions. I will post the pictures of the 2017 musky swap after the swap closes. If you are new to casting Muskie flies, make sure you have ear and eye protection. Thanks for posting! Tom
  2. Just bought a couple of saddles for Muskie flies. Dealer said they are catching up. The were half saddles, but the feathers we beautiful.
  3. Just suggestion and not a complaint, but get a bid from a firm with the technical capabilities and post that info and a mailing address. I would suspect that many of us would be willing to send a check. I am a huge fan of this site and the quality information available through the membership.
  4. Decisions, Your flies arrived today. I have updated the first page. The flies look great and are going to work. Thanks for the double 10s. "Big Nasty" is looking forward to throwing them. I like the color combinations. Do you normally fish rocks or weeds? Tom
  5. Flat Rock native, Your flies arrived today. The package is intact and the flies look great! I look forward to seeing their action in the water? I think that the tail will be mesmerizing. How deep do you normally work them? I have updated the list. Musky season here opens in a little less than four months. Right now that seems like an eternity. Tom
  6. Yes We had a wonderful Muskie fly swap last year and this year we have an awesome swap going. There are many amazing tyers on this forum. I am in awe of their creativity and technical skills. Check out the pictures in the fly swap section. People typically post after the swap is completed.
  7. Great advice. Get out there this summer and fish. Just about the time you think they only come in shallow, you will see them in two feet of water in the middle of the day. They are a wonderful fish on a fly rod, enjoy.
  8. And then they are dumb for just a few days, before they get used to seeing lures again.
  9. Mr. Cream, Thanks for posting the pictures of the flies and the SBS videos. I have to start tying Murdiches for smallies and was wondering about colors. The videos were very clear with the procedural information and are very helpful. Are the two flies in the second picture from the 2nd video? Thanks for posting your work! Tom
  10. Sounds like a great day to me. We have 2+ months of ice on the lakes.
  11. 37+ The great thing about this forum is how supportive everyone is. A former student also tied, but did not fish. I was his study hall teacher and when he earned detentions, I let him tie flies in detention. He eventually figured out he did not have to earn detentions to tie after school.
