  1. Merry Christmas to you and everyone. God Bless all.
  2. I have never tied a good deer hair popper. At least non that look anything like some of the members have shown here.I have used balsa and hard plastic body poppers and i enjoyed making them and using the airbrush on them but like mike i mostly use foam now.Either flip flop foam or thin foam for gurglers.
  3. Welcome to the forum Grape and welcome to tying.
  4. Cool project and great job explaining it.Thanks.
  5. 63 yesterday. Thunderstorms last night. 25 and snow on the ground this morning. Gotta love it!
  6. Glad to hear you are back out on the water. Great shot of that trout munchin on the fly too.
  7. Nice looking flies.Love the colors.
  8. Same glasses i buy for under $20.They work fine. They also have them with built in magnifiers in the bottom of the lens for people like me that have trouble tying the little flies on.
  9. Welcome to the forum Chris. Always room for another tyer on this site. We love fly photos here so feel free to post any photos or tying tips you may want to share.
  10. I see it also and it says updated today. I have seen this with a couple others also.
  11. Congrats Mike and Ken! Great choices.I'm sure you guy's will do a great job.
  12. Sorry to hear this joseph. It happens more than you would think.Hopefully you can get what they call a Quiet Title and void the original. If you recently paid off a loan on the property you may have title insurance. Some places require it.
  13. Have you ever heard the phrase "Don't leave valuables in your car!" Why do you think that is?
  14. You guys put valuable items in your vehicles and expect them to go untouched. You are trusting a thief not to steal your stuff when you turn your backs. You can't totally blame the thief for the conclusion. After all you did leave it there. They are thieves. That's what they do. Were not living in "Leave it to Beaver" days. This is 2016. I hate a thief! I understand they should not mess with your property but criminals have no out of bounds. When you leave stuff in your vehicles you are gambling at the outcome and this time you lost. All you can do is learn from the experience. And just the notion that you would shoot someone(in the back?) for stealing your stuff. Yea you got your stuff back but what good will it do you in jail? Threaten me or my family its different but to break the law to stop someone from breaking the law don't make a lot of sense to me. Texas may have laws to protect your property but shoot someone for stealing your property and lets see how that works out for you in court. I have had my stuff stolen in the past and did not like it either but i learned from it. Has not happened again!

  16. Sorry to hear this Mike.That really sucks.I can't stand a thief.
  17. Now thats a different idea.I like them. I am interested to know how they work for you also.
  18. Welcome to the forum Ginormus1. You will find plenty of help here.I would start with just the basic tools needed and add more as you get better at tying and advance to harder flies. Also it helps to use quality materials.A lot of the stuff found in the kits is far from quality. Here is a link to the youtube videos bass master mentioned. They are great videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DB6tss3hGZc Another great site for learning the basics is Fly Anglers online. http://www.flyanglersonline.com/ Go halfway down the green column on the left and click Fly Tying-Beginning tying. You will find some great info there. For tying new patterns it hard to beat a good video. You can find a video for almost any fly you want to tie on youtube. Material prices vary at different shops. You just need to see what you will need depending on the flies you want to begin with, then check out different online shops. In colorado you probably have several shops right down the street from you.You can get a good look at the materials before you buy. If you have any problems or have questions just ask.Someone one this site will be glad to help you.We love pics too so feel free to post any new flies you tie if you want critique on them.
  19. I like it.It should have plenty of swimming movement.Great job.
  20. Bimini is correct. If you are throwing big weighted bass bugs a taper is not going to matter because the weight of the fly will roll out the leader but for smaller lighter fly's the taper ensures that the energy of the heavier section constantly moves the thinner line in front of it so that it unrolls right and doesnt just smack the water.Really has nothing to do with the strength.12lb line will break just as easy in a tapered leader as a straight leader.Helps with the accuracy of the cast if you are trying to get a smaller fly to land in a certain spot.Same reason the fly line itself is tapered.
  21. I use a 7wt most times for bass but have used my 5wt also. For the 5 wt i use a straight 6ft 10lb or 12lb mono line most of the time and have not had a problem.I like berkley big game. The 7wt i use berkley big game mono and use the same setup as the 5 wt but if its really thick weeds i will use a 3ft 25lb mono with a blood knot to a 3 ft section of 12lb mono. I also use berkley vanish fluorocarbon instead of mono in the same line sizes when i am fishing really clear water. I try to keep it simple. The bass dont care about the leader size.
  22. These grips are pretty cool.A lot of wood burning. His paintings and prints are pretty amazing also.
