Thanks so much everyone, I have a couple more questions I hope you can answer for me - This traveller I have is a few years old, it is solid metal except for about 3 - 4 screws which look like nylon or plastic. It is good to know that they are really hardy vises. Can the Traveller take commercial fly tying? I now also have a older Danvise as well and wonder which one of them will stand up to the "crunch" better. Someone said that they changed the standard jaws with a cam set - what are these and are they expensive and where would I get them from? I also tie Saltwater flies as well for a local shop, will the Traveller handle these? Or do you think I should use the Danvise for that? I have just recently (yesterday - Saturday 19th dec) won a bidding war on TradeMe for a traveller Renzetti ,and I picked it up and have used it with loving care. does anyone know much about these vises? I need to know how to take care of it, to keep it working properly and smoothly for a long long time as it wasn't cheap. Does it need oiling? etc any help would be gratefully received. Hi Leif - indeed welcome back....... now if I didn't know that these were flies I would head for the hill's already - big spiders tend to freak me out. i used to write nature and gardening articles and although I now find them fascinating creatures after all the research, I tend to give the biggies a wide berth! and these chaps look SOOOOOOOOOOOOO real *gulp* Well done. I have been tracking the mags progress for months and have been looking into getting a sub sent here to New Zealand - although it is very reasonable in it's price - i just cannot afford it as the conversion from$US to $NZ is more than i can afford. it looks a fantastic publication - well done indeed. i am very disappointed, but an invalid's benefit does not stretch that far i'm afraid will just have to read what i can online. Have you tried the New Zealand fly called the Mrs Simpson? it takes rump as well as the church windows, then there is the Pheasant & Orange, the Yellow Matuka, the Matuka Sculpin, also they make good wet fly hackles. There must be more patterns though, I will have a look when we come back from an urgent dash out of town to terminally ill relatives. we will be away for 10 days so will leave myself a note to write asap when we get back. we are leaving this coming Wednesday the 16th. if you want the patterns will write them out then. Hope this helps you out a bit. jeanne

These photo's are beautiful, they give you impression of the stoneflies and the trout and coyote are watching you warily close by, not from a photo but actually live in front of you. will try tying a golden stone to see it goes - with your photo's as guides of course. thank you. Jeanne
