  1. Love it! That's probably the most sensible Idea I've read yet.
  2. What a great day yesterday was! We got 8" of snow so my wife and I went snow shoeing with our pup. That was followed by a couple of hours at my vise before the Super Bowl. For some reason I love to tie on snowy afternoons. 3. Beautiful Tie- Greenwell's Glory variant?
  4. The fly art work are illustrations from an old book called "Blacker's the Art of Fly Making" available for free on line. The link is below. I simply printed some of the plates on our printer at the office and matted and framed them. The mat and frames came from Michael's- The dockside artwork is actually a real drawing I bought from a street artist in Portland Maine. It's amazing to me that guy drew that scene with pencils. http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/35752
  5. Funny Norm I finished a spool of 6/0 yesterday. I can say that I tied something like 15 to 20 flies in size 12 and 10 after the white spool was showing through -
  6. Same here- Check out the “My fly bench” tour videos Tyers post on YouTube. Everything thing from tying stations that set in your lap all the way to entire rooms built around a vise.
  7. Thank you for your kind words. 10 years ago my wife and I were poking around at a local chain here in the Northeast called “Christmas Tree shops”. They’re known as a discount store and their stock changes often. I needed a a desk but that was the last place I thought I would find one. They were selling them unassembled for $129. We bought 2. My tying area shares my wife’s office and because shes a professional interior decorator I was told our desk needed to match- lol. They are exceptional quality considering the price and surprisingly after 10 years of daily use no problems. Here is the contact info for the company. I hope they are still around.
  8. Nice fly- What is your new vise?
  9. I did notice that he already had the wings ready to go and did not assemble them. Still interesting.

  12. Thank you- Not perfect but the brookies do go for them. The wings get ruined very quickly but I really like tying the old school flies.
  13. I'm glad you were able to fix it Norm. 9 degrees makes doing anything outside difficult!
  14. I ran across this last night and figured you folks on the classic side would enjoy it.
  15. My favorite wet fly. I think I prefer the wings curving down more than up. 16. Speaking of thick the body on this fly is built up out of UV wader repair.
  17. I usually like to buy hackle in person (if possible, Covid is making that tough these days) You can get good hackles from lesser know companies as long as you can weed through the unacceptable stuff hanging with it. Mail order or sight unseen I would go with Whiting.

  19. Beautiful work- those Pheasant rump feathers are gorgeous!
  20. Very kind words, thank you. I'm still struggling to use Starling in place of Jungle Cock for cheeks. I love the look of that little dab of iridescence next to the "eye" but getting them to stay in place is proving tough.
  21.
