Welcome to the site! You'll be a nice addition to the experienced and fine fisher and tyers already on this site. I'm a born and bred central NYer and have been tying for over 50 years and hosting fly swaps for going on twelve years now. Are you familiar with Tom Deschaine's work on flies and their histories in your state. I first became familiar with Tom's work from my days on FAOL (flytyersonline.com) where he was a regular contributor. He was a high school science teacher in the Weston area until his retirement. He was also and fine fly fisher, tyer, and rod builder. He was also an accomplished fly historian. Tom passed almost 9 years ago, but his site showing his life's work is still available online at Fly Patterns (michigandryflies.net). I look forward to seeing your posts here on the site. Kim

Maybe they were sent to Santa so he could add some coal? If that were true, I sure dodged a bullet! Kim

Thanks for hosting another great holiday swap! And get well soon, my friend. Kim -
Great pictures and thanks! Kim

I have a donation box that all the swap extras go into. These I donate to groups like Casting for Recovery and Project Healing Waters. I'll tie at least one fly for every fly I remove from the box and donate the lot. Like I've said before, these swaps are a labor of love! Happy Holidays to all of you and your loved ones! Kim

Take care all and a very happy holiday season and looking forward to seeing you in the new year! Kim

Have you tried glass in the back of the fly to imitate the bubble a pre-emerging caddis forms? Kim

Bob, I don't ice fish that often - with my casting skills I always had trouble hitting the hole! You take care of your health first, then the swap can follow. Take care my friend! Kim -
Got some nice ties from both psychoprince andJohn1986 in today's mail. All flies are all in and I'll be sending them out by no later than this Wednesday's mail. Great job all and I'm sure you'll love your flies! Kim

Welcome back from a relative newcomer - I joined here mid-2020 after coming over from FAOL. You'll see me a lot on the swaps section. I'm a born and bred central NYer and have been tying for 50+ years and hosting swaps for going on 12 years now. I look forward to seeing your posts! Kim

Welcome to the site! You'll find that it is loaded with fine and experienced tyers, fishers, rod builders and just good folk. I'm a born and bred central NYer. I don't know our ranking BUT I do know that within an hour and a half drive from my house I have the Finger Lakes (great fishing as well as MULTIPLE wine trails!), the Catskills, the Salmon, Oswego and Tioughnioga Rivers, Lake Ontario, and MANY fine local streams, ponds and gravel pits just teaming with fish. I've been tying for over 50 years and hosting fly swaps going on 12 years now. I look forward to seeing your posts. Kim

Christmas Swap under the Charlie Brown Tree

With a bow and all!π€© -
A nice reference on old fly patterns is found on the FAOL site (flyanglersonline.com). They had monthly features on "Just Old Flies". There was a 4- or 5-part series about a wrap-up of the end of the century and fly tying in the US - the end of the 19th century, that is, Kim

Sorry for the delay! Went out of town for Thanksgiving and got back late Monday night. Now I want to catch everyone up on the swap. We have a couple sets yet to arrive and all those that have are some VERY NICE TIES! Once I get the last couple sets in, I'll contact all and turn them around to send back to all of you. Thanks for another fine swap! Kim
