captaing 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2013 Hi guys, I saw this video on youtube the other day and it has been driving me crazy. can anyone tell what the tale is made of, or any other material that can give simular action? At first i thought it was a soft plastic grub tail but upon examination it appears to have small hairs sticking out of it, leather maybe? thanks, Gill
agn54 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2013 I think it may be chamois cloth. In any case chamois will give great action like that

Fly Samurai 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2013 riffleriver... You make me laugh, very funny. Yes the tail in my original version is dyed chamois, but Rainy Flies makes it commercially with "ultra-suede", and to be honest there is not a lot of difference between the two as far as action goes. I like chamois best but that is just me, something about the natural quality. Seriously without bias, the ones produced commercially are really pretty cool. If you have questions, I will be glad to answer, well if I can.
flytyer56 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2013 Fly Samurai, that's a great looking fly. Would a recipe or SBS be out of the question for it? Thanks.
