Recommended Posts

A summer steelhead pattern I fiddled with, and a tan antron caddis pupa. clear cure goo over the body and a realistic caddis bead head.

Hook: 6xl - 8xl streamer
Thread: black
Tail: Hot pink rabbit fur
Tag: Red thread
Underbody: Pearl braid, wrapped
Body: Small silver mylar piping

Notes: Originated by Kenneth Welch of Concord, New Hampshire. This fly was named for Mrs Barbara Cotton of Laconia who, with her husband Mert, has operated the Opechee Trading Post for 50 years. The fly was the first place entry in a fly tying competition sponsored by the New Hampshire Flyfishers' Association in 1995.

Variation: Not having every recipe item on hand, I used pink calf tail, silver holographic piping and yellow hackle for the original recipe items.

Now I just had a good laugh. Thanx Norm. I started going through this thread and the first post seemed to have the idea but then they got progressively worse as I went through them.,.by the time I got to your BNdace I thought you couldn't follow your own post.

And then I realized you were asking for flies in the month of May and not Mayflies. laugh.png laugh.png laugh.png

Very nice Crackaig, wish I was closer than 500 miles to a trout stream.

For the amount of time I'm able to spend on a stream just now I may as well be 500 miles away from one.

Cheers,

C.

Those scream Everglades. Bright ones on the fresh side grey and tan in the salt. All of them in either though. Put some weed guards on them and pitch them in the spaterdock (type of lilly) or mangroves. Very nice indeed.
