Senyo Lazer Dub

Recommended Posts

I would like to hear from someone who has used Senyo's Lazer Dub. Basically, I need to know what the texture is like. I use Davy Wooton SLF dub to tie the Chris Helms Predator. The texture is pretty stiff and the dubbed body looks pretty "buggy." However, the Davy Wotton is pretty tough to come by, but my mail order supplier carries the Senyo's. And is a color that I think will work. The Davy Wotton that I use is Fl Lime Green, and I can get the Senyo's in Fl Chartreuse. Would the Senyo's give me a "buggy" appearance?

I use both DW SLF and Sanyo's Laser Dub for various patterns. The Senyo's has a bit "softer" texture but give a nice buggy appearance when brushed out...this is Laser Dub (Lt. Olive) in a dubbing loop over Chartreuse D-Rib for the abdomen and then brushed out with velcro on a popsicle stick:

I get both of those dubbings from Bob Marriott's, here in Los Angeles...

It's 3 bucks a pack. I like it I think it's buggy but it may not be buggy enough for you. For 3 bucks check it out.

I like and use Laser Dub and it seems like it'll do what you want. For something a little stiffer and with plenty of flash, if that's what you're looking for, I really like Ice Dub. Might be worth checking out if your supplier carries it.

I use the Senyo Laser dubbing a bit differently. After attending a fly tying class sponsored by my salt water club, I found it makes excellent small bait fish patterns, under 3 inches in length.

Never even thought about using it for nymphs or pupae.

Senyo Laser Dub is not a substitute for SLF. Ice Dub would be a better choice.

This is the Predator pattern referred to:

...which uses Lime Green STANDARD SLF Dubbing:

It is nothing like Ice Dub:

...or SLF Prism:

It is a lot closer to Sanyo's Laser Dub:

Laser dub great stuff. I use it on a lot of baitfish heads. It would work fine for predator I think. Cheechs low fat minnow uses it. Wedding veil uses it. Watch those videos and you can see it used. It has fairly long stiff fibers. I have noticed some differences in the product with various colors especially the silver minnow belly. Buy some you'll use it. Btw the low fat minnow rocks!

The initial Low Fat Minnow used it, but I have since switched to Bruiser Blend Jr. for my smallish baitfish patterns. It's softer and finer than laser dub.

Cheech

Is the new version better? Btw, my buddy's son, 9, caught a 5lb bass on the LFM that I had tied for his dad. The funny thing is the kid was fishing it with a Zebco and pulling it behind a bobber. Children's ingenuity too bad we lose it all too often. Thanks for sharing all your great patterns.
