JoeBillingsley 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2017 I really like the way catgut looks when wet. Very realistic. You can make caddis nymphs as fancy and involved as you want or simple like Lucian's. Either way catgut is a great body material to start with.....if you can find it. JoeBillingsley 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2017 Ha! The problem with that for me is I live at almost 9500 feet elevation in northern New Mexico. The only kitties wondering my neighborhood are also called mountain lions. I'm leaving them alone! Joe
mikechell 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2017 I hope everyone realizes that "catgut" isn't really made from cats. You can soak this, and cut your own strips ... probably enough in one order to last several years. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rawhide-Remnants-8-oz-5046-09-White-Bear-Leather-/281754564679
FIN-ITE 34 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2017 Catgut is intestines. You could try natural sausage casings from your butcher.

Just didn't want any newbie tiers to go trying to harvest their own catgut. Preventing the, "Now that I killed a stray cat, how do I prepare the gut?"
