  4. I would just buy it, when it is a color like black that is easy to get then I buy it, the time saved is well worth the money. Joe
  5. I have found that Whiting hackle is much better then Conranch. I just was not thrilled with the Conranch hackle I have seen. Joe Fox
  6. I like when you hook such a small fish that when you set the hook the fly and fish come flying out of the water right at you. The first time this happened I was bass fishing and hooked a 3 inch sunny. I was using a larger fly and it was coming right at my head, but looked bigger then usual, I fell over trying to dodge it and then looked at my fly and it was hopping on the bank, I started laughing so hard the people some 50 feet away must have thought I was crazy. Joe Fox
  7. That has been for sale for months. Joe Fox

  9. OLB, send me a e-mail at [email protected] Joe Fox
  10. Or you could make a leader with lines coming out the sides. I have not found that a line attached to the bend affects hookups. It gets in the way less then a weed gard. Joe Fox
  11. Watch ebay, every now and then they pop up. Mustad tossed them aside a few years ago and now everyone wants them. I went through Mustads catalog and there is not even anything close. Seem like bending your own is your best bet. Joe Fox
  12. I find that Usuals sell the most in my shop. Joe Fox
  13. Indian Crow is Legal it is just very hard to get. Joe Fox
  14. 1) Tie in post, I like calf body hair for most of my posts, floats and is strong. 2) Tie in hackle to post so that the hackle is pointing up. 3) Super glue bottom of the post if you have problems winding hackle. 4) Tie in tail(s) 5) Dub body up to eye and then back to post. 6) With the thread hanging at the bottom of the post, wrap hackle(s) down toward the hook shank with the front of the feather facing up, take two wraps around hackle at the bottom of the post, the feather is tied to the post not the shank. 7) Wrap thread through hackle to the top of the post and whip finish. I find this to make very very very durable flies and is very quick to tie once you get used to it. Joe Fox
  15. What is the problem you are having? I tie the feather in by the tip and wind wind foward. I will sometimes fold the feather.
  16. A fly is a type of lure, a copper john is a type of fly. Both are right. I had a English paper in Coolege and one of the things I had to do was define a fly to someone who does not know what it is. That was a fun paragraph. Joe Fox
  17. I am going to send you a sample of what I have, just e-mail me your address and the color you want gold, silver, or pearl and I will ship it out tomorrow. [email protected] Joe Fox
  18. What brand are you using now?? I carry mylar tubing and I have not had any problems tying with it. Joe Fox
  19. Or, just store them with moth balls. If they have some "crap" on them water and little, little bit of dish soap if needed. Joe Fox
  20. Drop me a line if you can't find them [email protected] Joe Fox
  21. I use my hands, a leader sraightner creates alots of heat, that can be bad for mono. Chances are running your hand through it will help alot, if not it might be a bad leader. I tie my own but when I get tapered I get Manson, they are great leaders at an amazing price around $2 Joe Fox
  22. Most of the time no, if it does very little, and is usually written off as luck or skill. Joe Fox
  23. If you think about it every fly (almost) is just a copy of another with one small change, the best example is catskill flies all the same wing, many are different shades of dun, and the body is the big change. I have a feeling every pattern I have made has been made before. But what can you do it is what it is and if you have fun doing it then do it. Joe Fox
  24. I am running the shop for the first time this spring :help: Joe Fox
