Dang. That was tough.

Mine are all white, I did not think to add another color in. Hmmm I might have to go back and tie those again. It is going to be hard to not just set the hook when I see the strike, but I guess I will learn.

Ok today while at the tackle shop getting a second spool for my 7wt. I picked up a packet of those double sided spinner blade I have seen some people use on various flys. I tried tying one on in the front of a bugger with a bead behind it. Well it won't spin easy. any tips?

Looks good. I might have to tie a few smaller ones for pickerel. And to me I don't care how long a fly lasts just as long as it catches fish. Tieing new flys on every 2-3 fish is not a bad thing, that means you are catching fish.

In Va I know it is Illegal, carries some jailtime IIRC.

Buggers. Nah really I guess my niche right now is saltwater flys like crabs and such. I have found them to be fun to try and create and make realistic.

I vow to learn more patterns then my Dad. Gees the guy ties for 3 months and he knows more then I do.

I thought about getting some of those. How well do they work? I got a pack from Walgreens. I haven't found the double edgers anywhere else. Fairly well. They last about 6-7 flys. I like the "handle" they come with. But after seeing those double edge razors bend I think I might switch to those when I run out of single edge.

I just get the single edge ones at Lowes in the 100 pack, I have had the pack for about a year and a half now and still have a bunch left.

I have the same problem. Heck I dropped mine and I broke the epoxy. I did figure that I had put a bit too much hardener in and it made the epoxy very brittle.

Yep we got blues in the Chesapeake Bay. Filled a cooler with them in october at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Pier. I would post a pic but I got to say it is not very nice looking since there is a lot of blood. We kept our limit that morning and probably could have kept 3x our limit if we legally could.

Aw man I wish I had that fly back when my favorite bass hole still existed, dang dam broke.
-
Does not look that bad. My place gets like that every few weeks, I take a weekend and fix the problem. Now with my next move I will be singing a different story since I will not have a room that is big enough to play baseball in.

Depends on the fly, I will whip finish as I am getting close to being done with some saltwater flys if I feel that if I lose this part of the fly it will still work. then 2 or 3 whip finishes at the end with lots of head cement.

I get mine at Lowes. $.33 a foot and I buy 4 ft at a time. Usually lasts me a long while.

Stainless for most of my hooks, sometimes I want to tie something real small so I tie on normal freshwater hooks. These are flys that I know when I get home I will be throwing out because the salt air alone with cause them to rust.
-
Nope never done that before Heck a few weeks ago Mom called me up to yell at me because she found a size 20 hook in her foot after walking through my old room, I have not tied in that room in probably 4 years and have not tied a size 20 in probably 8.

I guess I am an Ed/rodney. Except I don't do it with Elk Hair I do it with Deer hair.

I want one on a fly, about 5 years ago I got into one with my crappie spinning rod in the surf, thank god Penns have large line capacities because I have not seen that part of my spool except when respooling. It was an absolute blast. Oh yeh caught it on a bucktail spinnerbait I tied

To be honest guys, and I bet I will be flamed for this but PETA is not as bad as this GoVeg.com movement I am seeing. These people are around here vandalizing bilboards with meat on them, the local burger joint, and now are protesting the fact that there is a chic-fillet in the student commons on campus. Maybe it is because I don't see or hear much for PETA and these guys are in my face every day but I think they are a bigger problem for me. Oh yeh one day one of their minions tried to tell me my burger was murder, my response " for every cow you don't eat I have to eat two, so please start eating meat I am getting fat"

My newest fly, I call it the "Chuck and Duck"

Tieing a few up now -
Black nose dace. Similar to a fly I still tie to this day for crappie.
-
Never have tied with them but I would like to know if they work. I am thinking a rattling crayfish fly would to the trick.
