Hi Fede A very good first attempt and I like the overall look as a fishing fly. To increase the realisim the legs could do with the femur being buit up to at least double the thickness of the main leg. I like the stonfly and if the colour in the picture is true is is a very close copy of the natural insects coloration Great job Mike.........................

As you all know I tie a few realistics and have never used a hot bodkin /needle. I use the finest pair of tweezers with the points filed down and heat in a candle. I find with the heated tweezers I can bend the joints to exactly the angle I want for the particular pattern. Hope this helps Mike

As always Johan a great job with the wings and the whole tying................good to see your work again Tight threads Mike

Hi Jeremy, First of all not a problem with the help...anytime ok. Ditto what Riffle said about the antenae, a great tie for a first mayfly the wings came out well but maybe some more time spent on the stching would give greater veining detail. All in all a great tying of a very difficult pattern Tight threads Mike.............................

Hi Jeremy Glad that the pictures I sent you helped and what a great result from you. If I had any comment it would be that the legs are superb, the claws maybe need a little work ie. building the back claw a little heavier and most naturals have a fairly glossy shell back. I hope these comments help and as always they are meant to be helpfull and constructive Great tie Mike................................

Hi Jeremy Thats a nice first attempt at an adult stonefly. The coloring of the abdomen is great as is the overall proportions of the pattern. The one thing I would say is that the legs need a little work in fine tuning the coloring and maybe a little long. Im not sure what you have tied the legs with but if you could add small claws to each using a varnished tread loop cut or by flattening the ends with fine pliers and cutting the flattened end with fine sissors to make the claw foot. As I said its a great tie and keep them coming Tight threads Mike....................

Hi Harold I have to agree with you about number 1 Olies great work in the book and 2 the great service from Coch-Y-Bonddu Books based in Wales England. I have brought more fishing and fly tying books from them over the last 30 years and have always had great service from them. All the best Mike.........................................
