  4. I'd probably do some reasearch on where in Colorado I'll be fishing. Then I'd search out some flyshops in that area to find out what really hatches during my visit and tie up whats recommend. Winters here and now is a good time to tie flies. I'd be tying midges midges and midges. By the way have I mentioned midges. Elk hair caddis, Blue wing olives are good ones too. For some midges, try this: http://www.danica.com/flytier/nfrechette/nfrechette.htm http://www.danica.com/flytier/rtakahashi/rtakahashi.htm http://www.danica.com/flytier/ccraven/ccraven.htm http://www.danica.com/flytier/jduran/jduran.htm http://www.danica.com/flytier/jbarela/jbarela.htm
  5. Alan, How about posting up some of those perfections you tie? Do you have a website?
  6. There was a product awhile back called "Micro Cables" from a company called "Doug's Bougs" that did exactly what you are doing by twisting multiple strands of the same color wires together and multiple colored strands of wire together. Heres a link that talks about them: http://flyfishing.about.com/ftb/ssmaterials/index10.html Dont forget to use the MACRO function on your camera. The symbol is usually a flower. Put a colored piece of paper behind the fly and have some good lighting. Turn OFF the flash.
  7. QUOTE (JarrodRuggles @ Dec 31 2004, 05:29 PM) If I just totally screw it up,.....I take a razor and POOF! A new hook to start again. Jarrod, Why did you waste all the time and effort and totally screw it up when all that was necessary was to back up a step or two and get it correct in the first place? When I tie, Ive got a foto of what I'm tying either from a book, on my computer monitor or on a paper I copied from the net. If my fly dont look similar, I'll find out right away where I goofed up and redo the step not the entire fly. Everybodies methods to this madness of fly tying is different anyway!

  20. It was easier to put a couple of bucks in the envelope than to try to explain the coupon thing!
  21. Dfix, Thats exactly what I told them and the USPS is still Clueless in Connecticut!
  22. Tightlines, I put my flies in the mail this morning and they are on their way. I also asked the clerk at the post office for an "International Reply Coupon" and she had no clue what I was asking for. Anyway I included $2.00 for return postage. It only cost $1.85 to mail it to Canada! I wont post the pattern recipe here since it will be on the card everybody will receive with their fly. Thanks for hosting this swap.
  23. Is 10 flies the correct amount???
